Am I? Aren't I?! Ovulating Q

Hello all,

This is my first proper post, so please tell me if I'm doing anything wrong!

We're in our third month of TTC and this month we decided to use an ovulation testing kit (Clear Blue - not the digital one though). Today is day 16 of my cycle (usually 29-31 days) and no LH surge has been detected on the sticks.

*TMI alert*
However, my CM is of the egg-white type, yesterday and day before it was VERY thick & tacky, today it's thinner & more slippery. Three days and two days ago I had some spotting as well, contained within a "glob" of the really tacky clear discharge. Cervix is high, soft and open.

I don't track body temp at the moment as I tend to wake up with a start due to the alarm going off and I'm sure the resulting pounding heart & adrenaline rush throws off the temps as they're never consistent.

We dtd on day 12 & 15...and I'm hoping the other half won't be too tired tonight & hopefully tomorrow...but right now I'm doubting that I'm ovulating, even though I have physical symptoms.

I'm testing first thing in the morning as the instruction leaflet tells me that's the best time to do it, but everywhere I'm reading it's better to test later in the day.

Anyone got any advice? Could I be having "phantom" ovulation symptoms?

Thanks in advance!!

I don't think you can have phantom EWCM. Trust your body! Physical symptoms are often more reliable than the test sticks. I am using the digital Clear Blue Fertility Monitor this month, and according to my temperatures, I already ovulated, but the Fertility Monitor hasn't detected anything. Also, I had one old OPK test left, and I used it (in the evening when its supposed to be easier to detect LH), and it was pretty positive though. So, I think my clear blue gadget failed this month. It is possible, just keep up with the and you could still catch the egg!

Wow, thanks for the quick reply!

I got really down about it this morning when I had yet another negative, but the physical symptoms are too much to ignore, you're right.

I'm not about to spend the 15 on the CB sticks again next month, will probably buy a bulk pack of the cheaper sticks and test later in the day when I get home from work.

Now to seduce the other half tonight...13 hr shifts at work (thankfully they're only for a couple of weeks) are making him feel less than amorous!
