Chatted to my mum she told me this was the best way TTC so i have given it a go but it varies, i will sometimes lay with my legs in the air and have a pillow under my bum, or lay on my side with legs pulled to my chest with pillow under bum.

But one warning make sure when you go to put your legs in the air you are not near the end of the bed, my head to crashed on the floor with a bump one time

Why? What happens if you don't go the loo and have your legs in the air?

Its reccommended that you should always go to the loo after sex to 'clear out' your bladder, and clean yourself up to lower the chances of getting things like a UTI. xx

I put a thick pillow under my bum, and had my legs up in the air and resting against the wall. I did that for at least 15 minutes each time, and it worked for us!

greygirl - i think gem-x has answered this for me

In a desperate bid of ttc I put my legs up and lay there for half an hour and left it a further 20 mins or so before I went to the loo big big mistake Yes I have IC, but I hadn't had pain like it since the onset of it 6 years ago!!!

Just sharing what happened to me to save you all the heartache and pain. Studies show that putting your legs in the air is a waste of time, the sperm get to where they need to be within 5-8 mins and all you need to do is lie still for 10 mins after dtd to help them get there, a pillow under your hips is ok, but not too high otherwise the sperm sit in a puddle in your cervix Putting your legs up isn't going to make them slide up there any quicker Think of the girls that have one night stands and get pregnant - I doubt somehow that they stick their legs in the air afterwards

Just trying to be helpful

Totally with you on this. I don't believe it helps. All the viable sperm gets where it needs to within a few minutes. And as sperm can survive for up to 5 days until you ovulate, are we supposed to lay like it for days until ferilisation?

I got pregnant last year genuinely accidently (sadly lost it later) and at the time of conception, I was going through a phase of enjoying being in control if ya get my drift I still got pregnant despite gravity

i never ever did!

with my first i definately got up within seconds of dtd

this time round i was trying for 9 months and for the first 8 months i stayed in bed for 10 mins afterwards, this month i had a uti at the beginning of the month so didnt want to risk having one over ov so was getting up literally after 2 minutes just to give the guys a good chance lol and i still caught!

i really do think they get to where they need to go within minutes so staying in bed with or without your legs in the air isnt really required

if you are still unsure what is for the best you could always use softcups and put it in after dtd that way you can go for a wee not get a uti and still have the benefit of keeping all the spermies and juices in there for a while longer xkx
