Vitex and Raspberry Leaf

Hiya, the got me today so I'm back to square 1.

I was wondering if someone could tell me if it is safe to take Vitex and Raspberry Leaf capsules together? I have PCOS so I'm trying to shorten my cycles.

Also while reading up on PCOS I noticed that lack of progesterone can cause this. I looked a little further and discovered it is progresterone thats in BCP so I have put 2 & 2 together and come up with 5 lol. I fell pregnant twice on BCP and now thinking that is why

To answer if they are safe to take together, then yes they are. although dont take raspebrry tea leaf after ovulation.

As for the lack of progesterone ... there are different things you can take instead of the rasperry tea leaf though, such as maca or royal jelly.

has that answered you question?

You can take Red Rasberry after ovulation. I am taking Vitex and RR capsules. I have pcos as well I believe and my cycles are everywhere. This is my first cycle taking these, so hopefully I ovulated ( don't get me started on OPK ) and that I will either start my period or get a BFP in about a week to week and a half.

Red Raspberry Leaf – You may take this herb during the entire cycle as it strengthens the uterine lining, thus helping to lengthen the luteal phase. But do ask your healthcare provider about continuing red raspberry leaf once pregnancy occurs. Usually, it should only be taken in the last trimester of pregnancy, because it “tones” the uterus.

Vitex (Chaste Berry)- Known as the female herb, it helps to regulate hormones and should be taken either the entire cycle or the first half from menstruation to ovulation.

This herb may be helpful for the following conditions where there is menstrual bleeding issues or uterine weakness present. It would be best to use this plant to help heal and prepare for pregnancy, but should be avoided after ovulation if you are actively trying to conceive.

This is where i usually read up on things from so thats why i didnt think you should take it after. i thought it caused uetrine contractions which is why you take it (i did) to induce labour when your overdue. Saying that i also know quite a few ladie who used RTL all the way through their pregnancies, so chances are my information is just protecting themselves.

it actually goes on later to say this
Caution: If you have a history of recurrent miscarriage, red raspberry should only be used from after your period ends, up to ovulation and not after in case you are pregnant. The toning effect of this herb on the uterus is sometimes too much for a weak uterus and would be best used in preparation for pregnancy, in general 3-6 months prior to trying to conceive. In addition it would be best to avoid during the 1st trimester of pregnancy as well.

so i would say if you have no history of MC then its safe but stop after your BFP, if you have had MCs then probably avoid.

Wow you ladies are pretty clued up thanks. I think i read the vitex should only be taken up till Ovulation too I could be wrong.

I took rasp leaf capsules in last 6 weeks of last pregnancy I def think it helps as I had a lot more braxton hick (practice contractions) also I went into labour myself and only 4 hours from first contraction I was told not to use it before 34weeks. (1st time round I had to be induced and was in labour 26hours so big difference there).

vitex can be used all cycle long ... again there is a section on it on that site i posted a link to, so have a look. good luck.

i took them but my labour was still over 24 hours, but my son was descending difficult so thats probably why. i tried every inducing thing out there and still went a week over lol!

thx for the info!

I'm currently drinking raspberry leaf tea. It's delicious! Just started last weekend.
I'm gonna continue drinking until my temp is up then.

My sister told me to drink it when I told her I'd ovulated later than usual, since it's good for irregular cycle.
