Blocked tubes...

Hello ladies! I recently had an ultrasound done for other reasons and it revealed that I have a damaged Fallopian tube (one side only). Does anyone know anything about this? The dr did tell me, however, that this is irreversible. I am hoping this news isn't as terrible as it sounds, as I have only seriously began TTC.

Damaged tubes can lead to ectopic pregnancys. If ur other tube is healthy then u can have a successful pregnancy did u discuss removing the blocked.tube to.prevent an.ectopic.?.. xxx

They can't usually tell blocked tubes from an ultrasound, you would need a HSG or a lap & dye to know for certain, have they suggested either of these?

i think you should get a 2nd opinion hun. As said above its not something that is usually diagnosed on an ultrasound.

Thanks for all the info ladies!! TMI alert...I was having very irregular periods for about 8 months so my dr gave me a vaginal u/s..not sure if that makes a difference! So when I went back for the follow-up, she told me about the damaged tube, said that means I only ovulate from the healthy tube...this was devastating to me and I kept asking questions but at the time she was more concerned w my bleeding. The dr said it could have been caused by a surgery or infection in the area any time in my life, and that it was irreversible. Now that I am on a regular cycle again (thank you loestren!!) I am TTC and have started to worry more about the tube...hope he added info helps!

They 100% wouldnt be able to tell if the tube were blocked from a vag us.

They may be able to see cysts on the outside of them and scar tissue. You sure she wasnt saying your ovary was damaged rather than your tube?

I had blocked tubes, and I had an ectopic and now I only have one blocked tube. So if you have any questions I am happy to try and help, also I wouldn't start worrying yet, lots of people get pregnant with just one working tube. I wouldn't start worrying till you had been TTC for a year.

Oh thank you so much!! She definitely said tube because she went into explaining how the egg can't get through because it's damaged. EP are incredibly painful, correct?? I'm so sorry you had to go through that but if I read correctly you said both were blocked and now one works?? So it is reversible?? Thanks again for replying

No it's not reversible.

My one remaining tube is blocked. I will probably never have a healthy natural pregnancy. I am now waiting for IVF.

Yes very painful, I am lucky it didn't rupture as I could've died.

I still don't understand how she would be able to tell from a US.
