Anyone ever use Metformin?

Hi, I have a dr. appointment on the 10th for pcos. And I'm sure they'll put me on metformin. I was wondering did metformin work for any of you ladies? And how long did it take.

At this moment I'm not hearing a lot of sucess stories.. Most people have been telling me it didn't work for them..

As I mentioned in the other thread, I got pregnant within 2 cycles of being on Metformin.

I had a mc, but I am now trying to get back on Metformin. My FS had basically said that it either works really well, or not at all and that she could tell it would work for me. I don't know what that meant, but she's kind of an overly positive person, so she might have just been being positive about it all.

I'm now trying to get back on the Met and I hope I get my BFP as quickly as last time. But, this time I may ask if I can stay on the Met through part of the pregnancy and I have read it can drastically reduce the risk of miscarriage.

Good luck to both of you ladies!

im on metformin for the first month and AF is one day late today! Heard mixed stories about it though some people saying it stops periods so could this be a BFP or BFP

Good Luck to you both xxx

Oh, I should mention...when I got my BFP on Metformin, I didn't get a BFP right away, I was getting BFNs. I figured it was just my cycle being irregular and that I wasn't pregnant, even though I had every symptom in the book. So I didn't test. 9 days later I took a test on a whim and it was BFP. I had bloods done a few days later and my dr said I was 6 weeks pregnant. I don't know if the delayed BFP had anything to do with the Metformin or not? But, keep on testing!

I didn't know about Metformin for fertility until I came to BnB. However, I was taking 1500 mg a day due to type II diabetes, for about 4 years. I had noticed my cycles were lined out since starting it. Every 31-32 days, there was AF. When I decided to ttc, I watched for OV signs, and watched my cervix for signs of fertility, and it worked the first go. I know that is a rare case, and many women try many many times before they get a BFP. But, the Metformin did cause me to have bad belly and need to be near a potty for the first week or so, I did drop 30 pounds in no time, and it lined me out enough to get pregnant after having tried multiple times before to no avail. The side effects are well worth it when you finally concieve. I have heard that taking it for PCOS and then stopping after the BFP is detrimental to the pregnancy, so please ask the doctors to keep yall on it until the 12 week mark. Good luck and plenty of baby dust to you all!!
