When will we get help conceiving?

Hi all, I'm new to this site and hoping for advice and support. I'm 24 years old and in good health. My husband and I have been TTC since this past April. I stopped the pill after many years and had a normal cycle every month until August when AF didn't show up. I haven't had a period since and I am currently on a 127 day cycle. I have taken a few dozen HPTs and even a BT and all were negative. My husband has a healthy 5 year old son so we know that he is able to have children. I have an appointment tomorrow with a new OBGYN as the people at planned parenthood are useless and we now have great insurance. I'm assuming I will be prescribed Provera but what else should I talk about? Is clomid an option at this point? 7 months of trying at 24 & 29 is so frustrating, although I know it is a short amount of time compared to most. Thank you all In advance

Yeah unless you are 35 they won't do anything up until a year. (or at least that's how my doctors office handles it)

WELL..

I am 20 and DH is 23. I went for four months after stopping birth control. Never got AF in that time, so never ovulated. Went to the OBGYN and he gave me provera and clomid, after only four months of trying. I ovulated my first clomid cycle but got a . I am currently on my second cycle and expect ovulation any day now.

So, it depends on the DR. I highly doubt that your DR wont help you after a 127 day cycle or you need to find a new DR who IS willing to help you.

Your age doesnt matter. If you are having problems conceiving, you are having problems conceiving which you obviously are with such a long ass cycle. I believe that they make you wait a year to test anything if you have a normal functioning, ovulating, cycle and DH sperm is thought to be normal. Not if you only get a period two or three times a year since that is abnormal.

I am actually in the EXACT same position as you hun, only I'm on CD 108? I even paid for a private ultrasound to check out what was going on in there, but it just confirmed PCOS. We have been TTC since September 2010 though.

Do the doctors really need to know exactly when you started TTC? Could you not just say you've been trying for about a year?

Thanks for all the help guys. I was temping in August and September and saw no change so I just have up in October & November because I know I'm not ovulating. I thought about telling them we have been trying longer just so they will go fourth with more tests but they have my records from my previous GYN and will see I was still picking up birth control. My appointment is at 2 today so I'm hoping for the best. TryinFor1 what was the process that your doctor put you and your hubby through before prescribing clomid? As far as tests etc and how long, how many appointments before you actually got the script?

The GYN did an exam and said everything seemed normal. He prescriber provera and clomid and ordered for me to get some hormone tests. I'm starting my provera tomorrow and then the clomid cd 5-9! Crossing our fingers for a BFP by Christmas!

Mama

Glad to hear it! If you still want to hear my answer, I only got blood tests done, nothing for DH (DR didnt think it was necessary) and I got the script the same day also. I only go in on cd21 for bloodwork to confirm ovulation.

So glad to hear that you got everything figured out! I love getting answers cause that means you are one step closer! Congratulations on the clomid!!

Idk if you care but I am excited so telling everyone. I finally got my positive OPK 2nd clomid cycle today, cd16. It is about damn time!! Lol.
