Worried About Ovulating Too Late

I've only been charting for the last two cycles but I'm worried that I may be ovulating too late. Last cycle was really messed up and I didn't O until CD 29 but this cycle it was CD 20 (I think-just waiting for FF to confirm).

My cycles are usually about 32-36 days long.

I've heard that ovulating later can cause the egg to age and make it harder for fertilization and implantation to occur. Anyone know if there's any truth to this?

How long did you have to wait for a/f when you thought you o'd on CD29?

Apparently anything less than 10 days might cause problems for implantation. I think there are ways to lengthen your luteal phase though - like B vitamins xxxxx

I was worried about the same thing so I looked at the data available on FF. I started a thread here: http://www.babyandbump.com/trying-to...l#post16380829

Chart is here: https://sites.google.com/site/follic...eoutcomes/home

I got my period 14 days after that, so a pretty normal luteal phase length

Thank you that makes me feel so much better!
I'm hoping I'll O earlier next cycle as I was sick with a cold from CD 14-17 which definitely could have delayed things.

After doing a bit of reading on the matter myself, I think I may be in the same boat as yourself. I have irregular cycles but the majority of them are 37days or longer.

It's also interesting to note that of the three time's I've been pregnant, the only one that stuck was with my DD where I O'd cd 14/15. The other two pregnancies I O'd later at around CD25/26 (I can't remember exact CD as it was so long ago now) and both ended in m/c one at 7 weeks spontaneously and the other was a missed m/c discovered at 12 weeks and baby measuring at 9 weeks.

I know it's not exactly the positive reply your probably hoping for but I am actually going to the Dr's on Tuesday to discuss all of my TTC worries including this. I'm only on cycle 4 of TTC baby No2 but have always had a lot of problems with my period which I've often gone to the Dr's about but it seems whenever I went to get it looked into in the past I would fall pregnant.

I'm hoping they'll be encouraged to help me even though I haven't been trying for 12 months just due to my past medical history (including suspected endometriosis) and that fact that when I experienced my last m/c in Dec 2009 the NHS messed up. They continued to book me in for various midwife appointments and appointments with consultants and then sent me rather rude letter's when I didn't show for the appointments. I put in a formal complaint and actually had a phone call from a woman who I can't remember the name of now but she was like the head of maternity at north staffs hospital. She was very apologetic and actually gave me her phone number (which I proceeded to lose...) and was told that when I fall pregnant again I will be 'looked after'. I assume that this complaint will be officially noted somewhere so hoping that they will be willing to help me!

I will let you know what my Dr says and suggests. GL and hope you get a BFP soon!

I have the same trouble as you. With my DD, I ov'd on CD 32 or something around there, and she was born just fine. I know it's harder for us because we have to wait so long in between cycles, and you just never know when you are going to ovulate until after it happens. The cycle I got pregnant I suspected O because of eggwhite CM, so DH and I BD every day around that time and after 4 days, I let it go. I also cut out caffeine during the 2WW and ate a LOT of avocados ( like 1 a day). I don't know if that helped any though!
I think our uterus's just need a little extra time to get ready for our little ones.

I got pregnant with my DS when I ovulated on CD 18 and he was perfectly healthy.
Part of me suspects that I just ovulate a bit later and that's what's normal for as I've always had a longer cycle and don't have any underlying health issues that I know of.

I hope you do get treated better this time around! I would have been absolutely furious of that was me.
I have a doctor's appointment at the end of May so I might bring up my concerns with her then.

GL to you!!

late ovulation apparently increases the risk of miscarriages and birth defects, I ovulate late (so far since I've been keeping track - between CD 22 and CD 50) and it worries me, as I've already experienced a few miscarriages
