Problems with OPK's, temping, etc.

Ok, so before I started temping, I only used OPK's. I thought everything was working fine because I would always get AF 14-15 days after a positive OPK. Well in January, I decided to start temping. FF never gave me crosshairs, and I got a positive OPK on CD15 and CD28. I got AF on CD 35. My temps made it look like I O'd on CD24. Nothing was even close to matching.

Then last month, I got a positive OPK on CD11! But my temps and the EWCM made it look like I O'd on CD14. That cycle ended up being only 25 days. Look at my chart in my sig to see last month's cycle.

Basically, my question is: Has anyone had a problem like this before where nothing really matched up? Would you say OPK's or temps are more reliable? If temps, then it looks like I may have a short LP.

I might be totally wrong here but I see that you have PCOS - I feel like I've read somewhere that it causes issues with OPK's. When I look at your chart from last month regardless of what ff friend thinks, i think your temps/cm make it look like you o'd cd14.

Yeah thanks. I do have PCOS. When I take off the positive OPK on CD11, it moves the crosshairs to CD14.

I am starting to think maybe OPK's aren't really accurate for me. But it seems like I O 3 days after a positive. I don't know why that is. I hope that isn't an issue too. Maybe since I get an LH surge, but don't actually O till days later, it isn't that strong. Ugh who knows. I will bring all of my charts to my first RE appointment.

Thanks.

Hi hun I agree and think u ov last month on cd14, maybe opks are throwing ff off a bit. I must admit I never had much luck with them until last month I tried a different brand and never had such a strong positive before, line was darker than test line. And all after splashing out on a fertility monitor! Grrrr. They say ov should occur from 12/36 or 48 hours. And I don't know much about 10 day lp but I know they say 10-14 and there are some people who have been prescribed mess to help move up of day with great success! Good luck x

Lol I have to admit mine don't have a brand on them either! If you look on eBay there are green, blue and pink packets. I've tried them all but found by far the pink are better. I think they're much more sencitive. Just got 50 for about £5 inc postage back to cd1 thou so wont need them for a while x

Mine are blue, and also in blue and pink packets lol. Well, the OPK's are in the blue packet and the HPT's are in the pink packets. I guess they are all IC's so probably the same. lol

Ok well the ones I have are pink and white packets and on the front it says ovulation lh test strip. The strips inside are green. If u still have no luck with the brand you are using I'd deffo give them a go. I must admit thou I'm having much more success with the monitor takes all the hard work out of it and I'm not very good at anything complicated x

Yeah, I was thinking about the monitor. But I heard with PCOS OPK's aren't reliable (even the monitor). So I don't want to spend a lot of money on something that won't work. I don't mind spending $10 every couple of months though for the cheapy ones lol.

I am glad it works for you though! Good luck!

Oh really I didn't know that! Wow. Btw isn't it strange here in the uk and I assume us pcos is bad, however I have a good friend who has just undergone a fourth failed attempt at ivf and as she is married to an Arab will be flying to Jordan for her next treatment as over there having pcos is good! Not that I'm suggesting you fly there lol but I think doctors and society have a lot to answer for telling us what's good and bad and making us worry making ttc even more difficult! Well good luck this cycle keep me posted! x
