Anyone else with hypothyroidism?

I have a few questions if anyone can help. More specifically, I am wondering if you take thyroid medication, what kind, and if have had any side effects. Google is giving me conflicting answers and I'm getting a little frustrated!

I have hypothyroidism, but I don't seem to be as clued up as many of the other ladies on the site. However I can always answer from personal experience...

I take 100mg thyroxin. I don't have any side effects from that medication, but believe I may need a blood test to check my levels. Hoping to see a doctor over the next week or two.

Thank you for your reply, personal experience is exactly what I'm looking for. I've been hypo for 9 years and this is the first time I've noticed side effects (or what I think to be side effects). I recently had my dose reduced from 100mcg to 75mcg but I'm having side effects similar to hyperthyroidism, so I'm a little confused. Hypo also seems to make charting nearly impossible

oh that's rubbish wishiwas. Have you been back to the docs yet?

I haven't paid enough numbers to my tests over the years, but a doctor did mention that I'm only just in the normal range, therefore my symptoms are still pretty much akin to hypo rather than hyper if I was nearer the other end of normal.

I am going to make a docs appt this week to speak in a little detail about the effect of hypothyroidism on ttc and hopefully to bring forward my annual level test.

hi i have had it since being born and i am now 22. i take 175mcg and have no side effects. all i know about it and ttc is that it can make ur cycles irregular, but mine are fine and always have been.

Onebumpplease- it will be interesting to see what your doc says about the effects of having hypothyroidism and ttc, as when i asked my doc six weeks ago he said he has never heard of it affecting anyone. (but i heard from a few ladies on here that have been to see specialists, they said TSH levels need to be between 1-2 ideally to concieve)

last time my bloods were taken mine was 3.95, he said its fine as its in the bracket but then i mentioned about this idea of it being between 1-2, he said he had never heard of that but was willing to up my dose from 150mcg to 175mcg. had my bloods done friday, get results on wednesday, got my fingers crossed

loz10 that's great your doc was receptive to the idea even although they hadn't heard of it much. I hope my doc is as helpful, fx'd they may even know a bit about it...

I'm glad to hear you all are doing well with it This is the first time I've had any problems, like I said before. I hate that there is such a broad range of normal. I've seen two doctors, one said I wasn't hypo, and the other has been treating me for it since I was a teenager lol. But I'm underweight and sweaty all time and very lethargic. Today I didn't take it and I felt almost normal. I guess I should bite the bullet and get my bloods drawn. I need to check on my A1c anyway.
