You'll Not Be Able To Do That When You're Pregnant.....

OK this si probably going to be a bit of a rant so if you don't want to hear me whinge hit the back button now..

I'd firstly like to say that as a general rule me & MIL do get on. But we have had a bit of a row today.

I have 3 horses - one who I compete a lot, one who is just a fun horse that I kep for purely enjoyment and my old pony who is now 27.

Last night on the spur of the moment I decided to take my competition horse out to a evening show - the first class went OK but in the second class he stumbled after a jump and launched me over his head - I wasn't hurt!!

This morning I was just returning from a ride out on my fun horse when MIL turns up at my house. I let her in and say i'll just put horse away, i'll be 5 minutes and I'll come in and put kettle on.

Came in and she asked if i'd had a good ride - yes, told her I was a bit achey after hitting the floor last night - well thats when she launched into an almighty lecture.

Basically what it boils down to is that she thinks now we are TTC I should sell the horses and give up as - "you'll not be able to do that when you're pregnant!!!"

I explained that once I got my BFP my competition horse would be going through to my friend for her to take over the reins whist I was pregnant (I did this for her when she was expecting!!) but I would be carrying on riding as long as it was comfortable (DH is also fine with me doing this) and I didn't have any problems but would be sensible and not jump.

Then she launched into another rant of all of the things I won't be able to do when i'm pregnant - it's like she's trying to put me off.....

Rant over - thanks for listening if you made it to the end!!!

The nurses told me not to ride horses as any fall could be a problem, but I'm sure if you are experienced and sure of the horse it would be okay as a fall would be unlikely.

Gosh some MIL's are a nightmare arent they?! I'm so jealous of people who have the good ones!

Honestly, you're a grown woman and you've made plans for you competition horse, and it's not like you're going to do cross country with a full on bump is it!! Do whatever you feel able and comfy doing, completely stopping everything you enjoy would only make you sad and thats not good for you or future bubba

If you do a sport regularly, be it riding/running etc then its fine as long as you're sensible obv! Mary King did Badminton whilst pregnant for gods sake!

Tell her to shove it, this is why I am never living within 'popping over' distance of my MIL she's gorgeous but would do my head in on a daily basis!

Everyone has always got to have something to say when it comes to pregnancy and kids, whether you usually get on with them or not. It would be just as easy to say "well you'll wont be able to go out for the evening at the drop of a hat once you have a baby" or "You wont be able to eat sushi when your pregnant", but for everything you wont be able to do when pregnant/ with a child theres something you wont be able to do with out having a baby. So ignore her seemingly trying to put you off comments.

I think as long as you are sensible carry on. My friend was riding her horse until 6 months pregnant and everything was fine.

I have been told we will have to get rid of all of our animals when we have a baby - not gonna happen!!
