My sis's colleage and wife had had been trying for a baby for long time . The wife had some problem with thyroid and had been taking meds for it . At last they conceived and the baby is one now . Not knowing that her thyroid problem is solved she continued with the medicine.
Cancer caught her and she passed away today .

That was such cruel fate. Do you know if her cancer was caused due to the continued medication. Then it is serious trouble. May the Lord give her family the strength to bear her loss.

Im sorry but that doesn't really make sense to the title you gave it? She wouldn't have passed away from thyroid medication as it is purely replacing a hormone that you are low on. Maybe she had thyroid cancer? This has nothing to do with the medication though. Still a sad story

That is very sad to hear that she passed away. Could you maybe ask your sister again about what happened? I wouldn't want anyone to be scared about taking thyroid medications, especially since so many women really need them. I am one of them. I had thyroid cancer, and am thyroidless now. Without my thyroid medication, I would eventually deteriorate as everyone needs thyroid hormone to live. I would appreciate it if you could check for us just to clarify what happened. Thanks so much!

I'm sorry to hear that news, it is terrible that she died so young with a one year old.

But it's necessary to regulate your thyroid or else you won't be able to conceive. I'm confused as to what you mean by the medication causing her death? I'm guessing she had thyroid cancer and the doctors didn't catch it, but instead put her on thyroid meds?

Still a very sad story.

I never meant to scare anyone .
She continued on the meds without knowing that her problem is corrected. She continued on the meds without rechecking her levels . her husband said that whenever the medicine finished , they ll just buy new ones and never checked the levels .
But what i learnt from it is to have meds only when its really really essential and a doctor prescribes.

Well, the lesson here is to always get your thyroid levels RE-checked every year at least, while on the medications. If you have thyroid problems, you need thyroid meds - or else you won't be able to conceive (if you're hypo). The medication didn't give her the cancer - likely it was something else.

This is sad news.

The medication won't have caused the cancer. Most likely the diagnosis was missed. Symptoms may have been masked by the meds.

The above poster is correct. A proper diagnosis and regular checks are needed.
