Looking like another miscarriage... :(

I'm not sure why I'm even posting this, but I guess I just need to vent my feelings out somewhere...

My husband and I couldn't conceive naturally, due to his low morphology rate. This was and still is our only "known" issue. We were so extremely blessed to conceive our son on our first IVF cycle, and have quite a few day 6 embryos to freeze too. After all our misery watching all our friends conceive with ease (literally every single one of our couple friends are one hit wonders when it comes to having kids), we finally felt like things were looking up for us. We got our amazing son and we would hopefully have a much quicker and easier time conceiving number 2 by doing an FET.

Wrong! It just seems fate doesn't want the journey to pregnancy and children to be easy for us (& many others I know). After a miscarriage at 5 weeks and 3 days in December, we actually got pregnant naturally (I mean wow, we didn't even think that was remotely possible), only for it be a chemical pregnancy and start bleeding at 4 weeks and 4 days.

Que to the next FET in February, and things were looking up. I had a nice faint, but very clearly there, bfp at only 5 days past transfer. My first blood draw was 219 at 4 weeks and 2 days, and then 2190 at 5 weeks 2 days. It was a nice 50 hour doubling time, well within the expected 48-72 hour doubling timeframe.
Then at 6 weeks and 2 days it only goes up to 7600. This is a 93 hour doubling time. I'm immediately concerned, even though my nurse is blarzay about it (they look at ranges and completely ignore doubling times).

So I booked in a scan today (at 6 weeks and 3 days). It was a vaginal scan, and all that could be seen was the sac. She believes she may have seen the fetal pole (& measured what she thought was the fetal pole), but if it was the fetal pole, it was measuring a full week behind at 5 weeks and few days. There was no delectable heart beat or flickering. I had had a scan with my son at 5 weeks and 4 days, as my ovaries were very swollen from the fresh cycle, and there was a very obvious heart beat flickering away, so I'm very concerned that I should be an extra week ahead this time and see less (I had also got a positive test with my son at 5 days past transfer).

I'm now waiting to hear back from my IVF doctor on what he makes of the scan, but it's pretty much not looking good and I'm devastated to be back at square one again .

Thanks Stillpraying! I just got a call from my IVF doctor who agrees the scan looks bad, and his feel on it is that it will be another miscarriage (but he can't say for certain without a second scan). He did say he'd seen this happen before where the baby did manage to catch up in a week or so, but that it was extremely rare.

So I'm getting another scan on Monday by my IVF doctor, and if no better, than I believe he'll organise a D&C.

I am sorry you are going through this. I would recommend considering pgs ngs or pgs ngs with ivf to boost yr chances of having a problem-free pregnancy. x

Thanks ladies. I have the scan tomorrow now - I could have had one today, but it wasn't actually with my IVF doctor, and they would have had to send the results to him, then I would have had to wait for him to review it and call me back. So instead, I have a scan with my doctor tomorrow, and can just discuss everything then and there.

Mimi4 - I did actually ask my doctor last week about testing the embryos. However, because they are already frozen, it would severely compromise them to be thawed, tested and then frozen again. We have 13 left, so we don't want to just discard that many and start from scratch at this point. So we will begin putting back 2 at a time, and just hope for the best (for now).
