Having to wait two cycle to TTC is making me crazy

I had a D&C on this past Monday with baby measuring 10w1d. This was my second loss since January. The first was a CP that I miscarried naturally. With the D&C, the doctor recommends that we wait two cycles to TTC again, but I think my grief is compounded by the idea of having to wait two cycles to try again. Why are two cycles really recommended? Why wouldn't we be okay to try again after just one cycle? DH wants to follow doctor's orders of course. I don't want to. What are all of your experiences with TTC after a D&C?

I had a D&C April 21st. I was 10 weeks, but baby stopped growing at 8. My OB said to have one period then we could try again. He said there isn't any good evidence to support waiting. He told me there are some older studies that showed that waiting 3-6 months was better, but that those studies have been discredited due to flawed methods and controls. There are also newer studies that suggest women who try within the first 3 months have a better chance at a healthy pregnancy.

He said at the end of the day there really isn't any medical reason to wait or not wait. He said it is mostly about your own emotional needs. He and his wife actually tried again (and got pregnant) after one cycle after a D&C.

That said, since this would be your second miscarriage in a short time maybe your doctor wanted to give your body and heart extra time to heal.

I sent my doctor's office a message to clarify and they told me it's to make sure I build up enough of a lining to maintain a pregnancy. But I'd think since the lining is shed every cycle anyway, that one cycle would be enough. I have the feeling it's going to take an eternity for AF to return and I just don't have it in me emotionally to wait for two AFs

My OB said if my lining wasn't thick enough I wouldn't get pregnant. He warned me a chemical could happen, but his advise of course was not to test until a week after missing af so he said I wouldn't even know if a chemical happened. He said one cycle was enough to start trying, but to be prepared that my body might not be ready yet.

He did say that lots of doctors give different recommendations. I suppose depending on how you count, I had two cycles I bled after the D&C then 5 weeks later af arrived and then I got pregnant with that cycle (I actually just found out this week!)

The wait does feel long, it did for me. If you really feel uncomfortable waiting you can always talk to your OB some more and ask some more questions. I certainly wouldn't want to tell you your doctor is wrong.
