Any USA Ladies with BlueCrossBlueShield Ins?

Just wondering because my new dr. is referring me to a fertility specialist to be tested for cause of RPL. I called the insurance to see if this would be covered, and they said if the words infertility or fertility shows on the billing code the automatically deny it. But I'm not seeing him for that, just tests for RPL... any advice??

Call your Dr. and ask what the billing codes they would be using. The billing department should be familiar with your insurance and what would be covered and what wouldn't.

Sorry though I dont' have BlueCross/BlueShield

I do! And it was a total pain to get them to answer me. I was trying to find out if they'd cover my husband's SA, and they told me no. I called the Dr's office, and they were able to call and get a more direct answer and yes, they did cover it!!! So, the insurance told me they wouldn't cover anything related to fertility, and I found out through the clinic that they actually cover a decent amt. So, ask whoever is in the billing dept to call your insurance directly because they'll know the billing codes and anything else the insurance will ask you. GL!

I don't have an appt until Febuary 2... MAD! but atleast I have one... and today when i asked if someone would contact the insurance the lady said I should wait until the initial consultation because that will for sure be covered, then they would contact the insurance to make sure anything the doctor suggested is covered.

Good luck with everything. I live in Virginia and have Blue Cross Blue Shield as well....from what I've learned once you have a diagnosis of infertility the insurance will not cover ANYTHING. You must pay out of pocket, so I would try to stay on top of this and make sure you know what the specialist is billing to your insurance BEFORE they submit the claim.
