Going private

Hi All

Not been on here in a while but was just wondering if anyone can help. As some of you may know, i had a miscarriage in November and ERPC on 13 Dec 2011. Since then I've not had any periods at all. I seem to get some of the signs such as aching stomach, hormones up and down, moods, etc. but nothing then happens. I seem to have a regular ache in my left side quite a lot of the time.
I've been to the doctors to ask about this and also my blood pressure as that is up a bit. (BTW we've done PG tests and all have been -ve so I know I'm not pregnant)
They are sorting the blood pressure out with tablets which i was referred to the hospital for as they know we are trying for baby so the consultant at the maternity unit could prescribe the tablets.
I know on here and other sites - Ashermans was mentioned. I mentioned my symptoms about no periods and the consultant checked to make sure things were 'open' and she seems to think that all is ok that way.
I think that really my periods should have kicked in by now, or am i being too impatient. The consultant said to wait at least until May to see the doctor about it and even maybe wait until the end of the year.
The trouble is, with me being 38 this year i am concerned that i am only getting older and if i miscarry again then another year will go by and so on.
I was thinking of going to see a private fertility consultant. What do you think? Does anyone know of a clinic/consultant near the Stoke on Trent/Staffordshire area that could be recommended.
Thanks all in advance. And hugs to all . Lisa x

Hi lJane so sorry 4 ur loss... I've just replied 2 ur msg on other thread. Have u had a scan at all since ur ERPC or a blood test 2 check ur hormone levels... U cud have some 'retained products' as they call it (sorry that sounds awful) not sure how 2 word it. This cud b stopping u from ovulating and having af due. U mite have enough hormones 2 stop this happening bt not enough 2 show BFP if that make sense.
This must b really hard as u can't start tracking properly until af shows... Thinking if you huni.
I wud def suggest seeing a private consultant if u have that option. They cud do many tests and get 2 the bottom of the problem.
Keep us updated... Sending love x x x x

Thank you. I think i might make another appointment with the doc tomorrow and speak to her. My hormones are all over the place i think as my face has proper flared up with spots to acne level so i was going to see her about that anyway. To be honest after my ERPC i assumed i would have had a follow up scan to check everything but no-one either consultant or doc has suggested it.
If i get no joy from the doc i think i'll def try to see someone private.
Hugs to you . Lisa x

I've phoned docs and managed to get an appointment for friday. Not with my regular doctor though as they not sure if she's back next week or the week after. Got a feeling i wont get much joy from them.
I'm obsessing about TTC/AF/not getting pregnant which i know is not good. Just so i feel as though i am doing something i've ordered some Agnus Castus from Holland and Barratt. Might not work but got to try.
And i'm going to the gym to register today. A lot of my friends have said that things started sorting themselves out and got pg after starting to diet and exercising.
At least in my mind i'm doing something and not just driving myself mad waiting for things to happen.
I'll keep you all informed and thank you
Hugs

Hi, i have just read your thread and know how fustrated you must be. I have 3 children already, boy 10, girl 7 amd boy 22 months.

in july 09 i had mmc and then had my son 10 months later.

in jan this year i had another mmc at 17 weeks (13-14 weeks gestaion) unplanned PG and i am 40.

I am desperate to TTC again ASAP but DH is not so keen, he didn`t want any more kids and is worried the impact on us all if the same were to happen again.

My AF`s have returned, but the fustration for me is not knowing if we are going to TTC again, I will be 41 in august so feel time is running out and that is what i am fustrated about.

i have an appoinment to see a specialist about miscarriages, she is based at Birmingham Heartlands hospital and her name if Professor Quenby, she specialises in recureent miscarriages, i don`t know whether she would be the right person for you to see. I think you need a referall from your GP, I have appoinment in May. I enquired about priavate but the list is longer. I will PM her email address, it may be worth sending an email to see if its something she would be able to help with.
Lisa

Thank you Lisa.

Ive dropped her an email. I doubt our PCT would pay for a referral to her, but is worth a try. I'll see what she sends back

Hi, I had a few problems after I had my first d&c. I was 36wks pregnant and had a complete placenta abruption and lost my little girl. Was having strange pains afterwards and get getting Brownish discharge that would not taper off. Went back the hospital but they put it down to the d&c and it was normal. I didn't feel normal! I went to my doctor who sent me for a scan immediately. Scan confirmed I still has retained placenta. Had d&c done on 17th August last year ( 4 weeks after delivery). I then kept getting left sided pain(still have!) fels like something's there and also get intermittent sharp pains on left side. From 17th August I didn't get my period until the October.i kept getting dull aches but nothing.I actually got admitted to hospital with excruciating pains and horrendous left sides pain and bleeding heavy after the 10weeks.Had scan done and doctor said looked very clotty and still could be retained placenta. Was put on antibiotics and sent home few days later. Another scan following week confirmed everything had cleared on its own. I also asked about ashermans syndrome as I read up a lot of stuff about it but consultant dismissed it. But even after this I still get left sided pain. I had a misses miscarriage also 4 weeks ago and had another d&c and I was so scared it would happen again, luckily Ive just got my period.
I think you really need to go back to your doctor or hospital and demand a scan. It could definitely be retained products. If you feel something's not right you need to keep going back until they investigate, that's what I did. I've now got appointment on Wednesday with consultant regarding pain. Let me know how you get on and of you ever need to chat I'm always here.

I'm sorry for your losses and that you've had to go through all that. Thank you for your reply. I've made an appointment with the doc but don't think I'll get anywhere as its not my regular doc. But I'll go see him and if get no joy I'll make an appointment with my regular doc. Hopefully she'll be back in work by then.
I've got the number for the EPU who I might ring and ask firstly and get them to put me through to the correct people failing that. The only reason I think they will dismiss it is because I've not had any bleeding at all. Even after the ERPC I only had a little bit of post op blood for that day and nothing after that. And all pg tests are negative.
Apologies if i keep going over and over, but its all thats going around in my head at the mo. I cant seem to think about anything else.
Thank you

Well Agnus castus has arrived so going to start taking that later today. Started taking my temperature and using some cheap ebay opk sticks everyday to at least try and see if my body is doing anything at all....

I know i'm doing all this but i might try and take my mums advice (she's been through a few miscarriages and a full term stillborn baby so she knows more than anyone what things are like). She says i should concentrate for the next couple of months on my wedding in June and then think about things again after that and things may just happen naturally. (A month after she was told not to try again after miscarrying for about the 6th time, she had stopped trying and things happened and along came me so might be something in her advice i think).

So going to see what doc says tomorrow and then it'll be either all go or bit quiet for a couple of months.
Anyway hugs to everyone
