I had a miscarriage last September. My periods were really irregular before I got pregnant, and it took me 10 weeks to get my first period after the MC.
Since then, my periods have actually got a bit more regular, but my PMS has gone totally mental!! I never really got any PMS before but now I'm getting everything - awful mood swings, grumpiness, teariness, I can't deal with stress, really sore boobs, needing the loo all the time, bloating, food cravings. But the thing is I get different ones every month, leading me to get my hopes up for a BFP!
This month has been particularly bad with the moodiness - in fact I've been really miserable Anyway after getting my hopes up for a BFP because of the moodiness and also mega sore boobs (so sore that they've only been that bad before when I was pregnant) my period started yesterday evening. I had a small amount of blood when I wiped so I put a pad on. Then god awful cramps started - I was writhing around on the sofa in pain and I had to take painkillers. They're NEVER usually that bad, in fact they're usually only a bit annoying, not painful. I also started shaking and feeling sick. Anyway my DH ended up putting me in bed with the electric blanket on, and I started to feel a bit better
What is really weird as well is that there was not enough blood to even fill a pad overnight, not nearly. Most of the blood has been when I have gone to the loo, and it's been thick and a bit clotty.
Is this anything to worry about?
And has anyone else experienced this, and also PMS gone mad after a MC?
I think its pretty normal for your cycle to change after an mc, before my first mc my cycle would go for 22 days, after this it went for about 28 days and now i get ovulation pains every month, which can be quite handy but as I already go through excruciating period pain already, its just been another thing to complain about. I had my second mc several weeks ago and got my period this week, I had cramps for at least three days prior as well as three days into it and terrible mood swings all week, I just hope this is because its my first one since the mc. I have heard massage techniques like bowen therapy can really help get your body into a good pattern, so I'm going to try this sometime soon. Im so sorry for your loss
Hi Hanfroman, I've also just had the most excrutiating period pains but with little blood. So bad I got admitted into hospital for a couple of hours for tests and pain relief. The next couple of days the flow increased but did not thicken but the pain naturally reduced, which is very unusual for me. Thankfully its now coming to an end. Any how just had the results of my tests and there were no infections and the consultant said It should be ok to start trying again. He just said the body takes time to recover and its given itself a good clean. Hope that helps. xxx
