The power of baby aspirin

Hi Ladies,

I thought I would come on here and let you all know about baby aspirin....

I had 2 MMC after having a healthy baby boy, after getting my 4th positive test I decided to do abit of research and came across a story about baby aspirin. When I went to my doctors and told them about it, he told me not to take it....

I came back home and did more research and found out that doctors that aren't specialist in pregnancy won't know anything about it... I also read that even if you take it, it won't affect your baby or you and so I went ahead and started taking 1 every day.

I was referred to the early pregnancy unit and asked my consultant there, and she said she can't tell me to take it, but she wouldn't tell me not to take it. And so I carried on 12 weeks came and so did our scan, where we saw our little heartbeat.

I can't say that the baby aspirin helped me keep our baby but I can't say that it didn't either. What I do know is that my friend recently had 2 miscarriages and I told her after her 2nd to try the baby aspirin... she has recently had her 12 week scan and everything is perfect and they saw a lovely heartbeat.

I hope this bit of information helps someone on here, good luck ladies

I just had a consultation with the MFM. She thinks I could possibly have some type of clotting disorder and is running tests. Some of the disorders asprin is all that is needed (some need a higher dose than others); some need Heparin as well. I'm hoping the tests will show something, so that we know exactly what to do this time. My daughter was 27 weeks when she died, so I was pretty far along. Do you take one baby asprin a day? I'm wondering if I should go ahead and take it now as I am in the TWW. The MFM didn't want me to start yet, but she also implied I should wait until after the test results come back.

Amjon, it can't hurt, I had good feeling this month and so started taking it after ovulation as I have also heard it can help implantation but not sure if thats true. Anyway, I got a BFP this morning so maybe it did work
Do u mind me asking when you lost your little one? Its just that from your ticker it looks like we lost at the same time, my little boy was born sleeping on 29th Dec
So obviously v nervous about this BFP and praying its a sticky one, really wish I could fast forward 9 months and everything be ok! Yikes!

amjon - sounds like me and you are in exactly the same boat - im having tests for clotting disorders too and ive been told to wait for the results but have decided to TTC anyway and start aspirin should i get a BFP (which i doubt will happen anyway). in a way im hoping i do have a clotting disorder so at least i will have much more monitoring next time and the heparin would give my baby an extra chance. its just horrible that we have to go through these losses to find out if we have problems like this xx

Hi all,

i have been hearing a lot about baby asprin.

i asked my doctor about it after my loss. Although my bloods did seem ok. She thought it might be a good idea to take it.

Just a low dosage of 75mg per day, when you are pregnant, but not before.

I am going to see a specialist in recurrent miscarraiges in 3 weeks time, she is a lady called professor quenby and is supposed to be very good. i am going to ask her about this and see what her views are.
