pcos clomid & metformin...help/advice pls

Hiii...
I'm 25 yrs old and have been ttc for 2 yrs now. I have what the dr calls "skinny" pcos I'm 5'4 and around 100lbs. Ive wrote on a few threads with no response lol. Sorry im new & not quiet sure how this site works. I take provera to get a cycle then this past month (sept) took 50mg of clomid with no success. So this month I will be taking the provera, 100mg clomid and was prescribed metformin. I'm hesitant to take it bc of the reviews and the warning my dr gave me about the side effects. I have high testosterone which the dr thought i had insulin/bloodsugar problem that is why metformin even came into play. Well my results came back normal insulin level 6. I hope someone can help lend some advice support...anything lol. Thanks so much for reading and hope to hear from someone soon

I was on Clomid on and off for 3 years. When I went to a fertility specialist, he told me that you shouldn't take Clomid back to back- it can create a blockage in your tubes, making you unable to get pregnant. One month on, one month off, then the next back on is the best approach.

HI hun. I also have PCOS, was diagnosed when I was 23. My weight is normal close to thin. I was on Birth control for 8 yrs (I wasnt ttc). I was on Diane 35 to reduce male hormones. I had insulin test & it came normal. I went off the bc in Nov 2008. In Feb 09 I had a chemical pregnancy (early miscarriage). On March 5th I went for clomid prescription but my Dr ran a pregnancy test & it was positive.

My cousin was also diagnosed with PCOS at 24 when she was trying to conceive for 1 year. She also used bc but only for 3 mnths, then she got pregnant after 1 mnth frm stopping it without intervention.

Good luck xx

Hey butterfly! Sounds like we are very similar. I am 5'4 115...and was just diagnosed with PCOS last week. After I went off BC in Feb, cycles were 37, 39, 90 days and then 70 days (but took provera). I can feel your pain on the irregular cycle thing. I will also be starting clomid soon..hoping it works. I have read good things about metformin even if you arent IR.

Good luck hun It's birth control with anti endrogen to reduce male hormones. It also helps in regulating cycles. I never had regular cycles before using the bc.

Let us know how it goes

Hi Aries... Thanks for commenting! I decided not to take metformin after talking to the pharmacist and reading the info paper. Its for diabetes and bloodsugar basically. She said it could make my normal bloodsugar go lower. I just have high testos. and met would not help with that at all. Still left wondering tho lol. I hope clomid works I start my second rd the end of the month . Do you have have mild pcos? I have a touch of it is what i was told lol. Just just need to ovu apparently. Hopefully clomid works and I wont have to take the next step and have injections. Sorry to ramble & best of luck xx

nmwb- thanks sooo much... ill have to ask my dr about that xx

I have been Dx with PCOS. I have many cysts, but am not overweight, no acne, no abnormal hair growth etc. I think the cysts and irregular cycles is what DX me. I hope to start clomid in a few weeks after provera. Goodluck with clomid # 2! How was the 1st round?

Hey there Aries! I had just irregular cyles & high testosterone so i guess thats why they say i have pcos. 1st round of clomid wasnt successful she said she saw no sign of even a small follicle growing. After 2 wks i gave in and started my prescription of metformin bc i heard it does lower testosterone and stimulates the follicle. im on day 2 and have had no side effects thank goodness i hear they can be pretty harsh. Are your levels normal? How did they find the cysts? Just in an untra sound? ill start my 2nd rd of clomid next week crossing my fingers it works this time around! Are you prescribed clomid or waiting to be? Sorry to ramble & pry. Goodluck and hopefully you get the meds you need to speed the process up keep me updated hehe xx

I've been on Metformin for about 2 months now and I really like it. It did decrease my appetite and make me a little sick, but that will pass. It's just your body getting used to it.

If you get really sick, some women take 1 pill during the day and 2 before bed. They say it really helps.

Good luck, Dear!
