Don't let them fool you, you can say no to anything. Some things matter more than others depending on your circumstances. It's best to learn as much as you can before you even go into labour then make the medics explain everything, pros, cons, reasons for doing it, then decide if you want to let them.

i was 9cm when i got checked and it never hurt so i do just think it depends on the MW and your body

yer they tried talking me into having baby in hospital! cos my iron levels were 0.4 under the recommended level!
I SAID NO!
I am having him at home!!

and all went 'swimmingly'
