Good luck for scan tomorrow. Just to share I had ivf to conceive my twins so knew to the exact hour when conception was.

However, at my 8+2 scan twin 1 was measuring correctly and twin 2 was 7+6. I then had a scan at what was 12+4. Twin 1 was measuring 13+2 and Twin 2 12+1 so the diff had grown.

They continued to measure 8 days apart but when born at 37 weeks weighed a healthy 6lb and 5lb10oz. As my consultant re-assured with fraternals you're effectively carrying 2 siblings at the same time so it's unfair to compare xx

Well the scan went well today The twins are still both there and have both grown a week from last week!! Big one is still having a growth spurt - Little Miss is measuring 12w1d and Mr Big is measuring 13w5 - the first sonogram we had we were told the difference between them was 1-2 weeks, but they've not dated the little one since - both babies are supposed to go from the biggest baby's date, there's no need to date the little one, just measure it.

The twins are being really consistent in their measurements - the fact that they're both growing at their own rate makes me feel comfortable, I'm just assuming I've ovulated a week and a bit apart. If there was no big baby - the little one would have had a dating scan, and at every appointment since she's measured just perfectly! It's only comparing her that there is a problem. (Although to ovulate separately is one-in-a-million stuff, which is why the doctors are thinking up more plausible reasons.)

Saw the consultant today who said that I should get measured again in 3 weeks (I'll be 16 weeks pg) and have an appointment with the twin growth specialist and talk about "options" - she hinted I could consider an amniocentesis. I had a sneaky peek at my notes before I handed them back which said "She's aware of the risks of an abnormality".

Edit - nuchal came back as 1.5 and 1.3 for the twins!

maggie- if you do decide on an amnio they really arent that bad. the one they did on B hurt cause they did it super high through the muscle, but A didnt hurt at all. i was "bad" and didnt rest that night cause i had a work thing i had to go to. had no cramps and no problems. and it was nice to get the reassurance

I was about to post thank you for the reassurance but going in through the thigh muscle has just scared the h*ll out of me! Sounds incredibly sore, I admit I had no idea that's how they'd do it.

I'm glad that in spite of how hideous it sounds it isn't painful so thank you

heh not thigh, high.. they went higher on my abdomen. i work out a lot so im super muscular. i didnt even feel the lower one. it all depends on where the babies are hanging out and where the biggest fluid pockets in their sacs are. i think it was unusual that he went so high on me. im also pretty short waisted and have a small pelvis so my uterus is extending higher than it should early. it was more uncomfortable than painful and the needle is in for such a short time. they watch on us while they do it

I thought it didn't make any sense!!! See, I am stupid after all!!! To be fair I am very unmuscular so at least I don't have that to worry about.

I don't think I'll be taking the test - but I will see what the blood test comes back and see what the consultant thinks. Unless there is something other than the growth issue I think I would be happy to leave it. Can I ask why you had yours performed? Were the results ok? I'm sorry if those questions are too personal - please feel free not to answer.

...Thigh muscles... I'll be kicking myself all evening!!
