Our twins are almost 6 weeks old and now I've been in the hospital since Saturday night, so haven't been able to see them. I had a nuclear test yesterday morning and was told I had be more than 3 feet away from them for 24 hours, but I've been stuck here, so it hasn't mattered. I can't feed them for another 24 hours (or any milk I pump while here). I'm hoping I can go home today, but still haven't heard anything from the doctor. My poor DH has been stuck taking care of them and having to work at the same time. Some of my family watched them for awhile yesterday, so he could come visit me in the hospital, but other than that he's been 100% on his own.
I've been away for awhile so I don't know why you are being hospitalized. What's going on?
I was having chest pain, so had DH take me to the ER. They ran labs and my blood showed I was at high risk for clots (hadn't been as diligent about taking my Lovenox, oops), so they suspected PE and wanted a lung scan. The one they could that night they needed an IV about the hand, but couldn't get one in (and I had enough after 6 tries), so they admitted me to do the nuclear test in the morning that could use the hand IV. That came back clear, but then the doctor noticed elevated liver enzymes and ordered an abdominal U/S to find both my liver and gallbladder enlarged. The gallbladder needs to come out (not sure when, hoping to get in with the specialist soon) and we need to figure out what is causing the liver issue.
Oh wow. I am sure that's a lot to take in. You must be sad not being able to be home.
I actually had my gallbladder taken out after my 1st was born. Just one month later.
I am sure the doctor will tell you more but...if the gallbladder is doing really bad then it can have an affect on the liver...or so I thought.
Praying for you.
Thanks! The doctor in the hospital didn't think they were related, but I'm trying to get in with the specialist to see what they say. I'm hoping it's just that and the damage will repair itself. The liver is really more of a concern than the gallbladder.
