7 weeks pregnant. No hb on twin 2?

Hi

Not sure if this is best place to post. We had a scan yesterday at 6 weeks 6 days and it's twins Twin 1 looked great with a good heartbeat. Twin 2 measured good but we couldn't really see a heartbeat. There was a vague flutter at certain angles that both me and the sonographer both kept thinking we saw. She said it could be because it is further away from the probe and not able to visualise it properly or that it could be too early. It also could be not viable. Got a rescan next week.

Does anybody have anybody experience with this? I am trying an failing to remain calm.

Thanks all xxxx

Congratulations! I'm sorry, I don't have any experience, but I wanted to wish you good luck. I can't imagine how hard this is for you. Here's hoping the next week flies by for you and you see two healthy heart beats on the screen.

not a twin mom but 6 weeks 6 days is pretty early for a sonogram to pick up on everything even with singletons. my sil didn't get her hb picked up even at 7 weeks 5 days with her last (singleton) but just 3-4 days later there was one. it really depends on where the baby is and how its positioned and just a day or two can make a huge difference in those early weeks.

if you had an abdominal ultrasound and non a transvaginal one, then it's even harder to pick up on things.

i think both your babies are doing great i send my prayers for a happy& healthy twin babies

Thank you. It was a transvaginal one. She did say he was positioned higher up. I have everything crossed. Thanks for positive words x

At that early stage even 1 day can make a difference. I was told my baby b had nothing in the sac at all, he's now 18 months old.

My friend had a scan around 7 weeks with her twins. One sac was completely empty (and I'm sure measuring small), and the other had fetal pole and yolk. Anyways she's 31 weeks now with healthy twin girls. So id say it's just too early. Try not to stress xxx

I also think it's too early. My scan wasn't until 8 weeks for this reason, felt like forever at the time but I'm so glad now.
Good luck X

We went back at 7+6. One baby looked great but other sac was empty. All she could see was the yolk sac. The gestational sac had grown but she said that should hopefully stop growing now there is no longer a baby in the sac

Just trying to remain positive about our healthy looking bean x
