They girls are now 12 weeks old (3 months on Monday) and I thought it was time for an update! I know when I was pregnant I was very interested in reading about life with twins.

For those new to this group, Clara and Ainslie were born at 36 weeks +3 days and were 5lbs14oz and 5lbs8oz. I had a fantastic vaginal birth (the epidural was awesome!) and am exclusively breastfeeding, though I supplemented with formula for the first 6 days.

I found 5-8 weeks the toughest. The girls were out of that feed-them-and-they-immediately-fall-asleep age and suddenly getting them to bed at night was a challenge. That plus my 27 month old son's bedtime drama made me dread the evenings. I cried once almost every day during that time. I found support from other local twin moms and took comfort in the fact that they thought I was coping well, even though I felt I was falling apart.

The good news is that things went up from there! Ainslie started sleeping longer stretches at night (7-8 hrs) and soon Clara did too. Now at 12 weeks Clara usually sleeps 8-10 hrs straight and Ainslie sleeps 10-12 hrs straight! *I'm getting more sleep, but there are still struggles. Clara is a fussy baby. I took her to the doctor thinking she had reflux, but he said she's just colicky and will grow out of it. Sometimes her fussiness drives me crazy, but I try to remind myself how lucky I am that she sleeps well at night.

Even though they both are sleeping like champs at night, naps are still all over the place. They have 4-5 random naps during the day and they are rarely in their crib. Naps are something I intend to tackle during the next few months. The sooner I get them on a schedule, the sooner life will feel a little less chaotic.

Sometimes this is so tough and i feel like a crappy parent and sometimes I feel like supermom. Please feel free to pm me if you have questions or need some encouragement. I am fortunate to have a couple local twin moms to turn to and their advice and support has been a life line for me.

Good read! I have no clue if Ill cope well or fall to bits when I get my babies, its nice to read about other mums and twins experience, specially those with an older child
