TTC and need to lose weight but can't

So I have been ttc for a year and went for my 21 day progesterone blood test yesterday so awaiting that result. OH is seeing the GP about having an SA done. Anyway he has a 9 yr old boy and I fell pregnant 6 years ago but miscarried at about 9 weeks. The only thing going against me is my weight I need to lose a lot. When I ask my GP about it she can never tell me why weight affects fertility – from what I have read the extra weight affects your cycle and complications like PCOS etc however I have a very regular 28 day cycle – a few shorter cycles since ttc but only by a few days. When I fell pregnant before I was heavier than I am now.

I know that for my own self esteem losing weight would make me feel so much better and I also know if I was pregnant I would have no trouble sticking to a healthy diet but this whole ttc journey I cannot stick to losing weight. I set out with good intentions and then feel so down I haven’t got pregnant that I just eat – I am a binge eater – I love my fruit and veg but put a pack of biscuits in the house and they are gone in one sitting. I know that losing weight maybe the key to me getting pregnant and having a baby is all I want in the world and yet I still can’t do it....feeling very low about this and not sure how to get out of this rut. I went in to Mothercare on Monday not been in for a while because I feel like I’m tempting fate if I go in there and my AF will show up but honestly walking round that shop it feels like pure heaven to me and I desperately want to go in there and start buying things for my baby – to go in there and know I am pregnant would be an absolute dream come true.

Thanks for listening ladies I know you can all relate xx

I've been losing weight to TTC. I've lost 2 stone with weightwatchers. It's been brilliant, hard at first but it's taken 5 months to do this. Got 1 1/2 stone to go now. I didn't do it for looks, only to be healthier and to aid TTC but I'm login how much better I look! Its hard at first but easy once you get into it. Weightwatchers is great cuz it's so so supportive!

I an empathise.

I had my CD21 test done last week and my results came in low and that i probably didnt ovulate. I was shocked because every cycle my FF chart always showed ovulatory cycles wth crosshairs

Im scared about my appointment next week with the doc because im also overweight and know that ill probably be turned down for assistance getting pregnant. Its a horrible position to be in. Im happy to lose weight and even happier to do it to get pregnant...but with my thyroid issues I know its going to be a slow process and I do worry I cant lose enough weight in a quick enough time to get the help I might need later on (or might not!)

The joys of being a women eh?!

Oh hun what were your progesterone levels? I also have thyroid issues which don't help. I see babies all around and I just want it to be my turn - you spend years on the pill to prevent pregnancy and then when you come off the pill you think it will happen quicky but it's been a year now. I hope your doctor is understanding and helpful hun x

I lost 2 stone a few years ago, i seen a photograph of me and i looked fat, i mean i wasnt massive (a UK 16) but inside myself i felt huge and i thought i was ugly, i hated myself.

As soon as i seen the picture i vowed to do something about it. I started making simple small changes. I bought skimmed milk for my coffee instead of semi skimmed, i switched to a lower fat butter spread, i only bought diet fizzy pop, i changed my oil to olive oil and started to oven cook things.

I CHUCKED OUT MY MICROWAVE!, stopped eating frozer ready meals etc...

slowly but surely the weight started coming off and i got more confident and more determined to reach my goal weight.

You can do it, but you need to start small, dont try and tackle too much at once otherwise you will just slide back into old habbits!

good luck!! you can do it!! xx

Awww sorry about the mc. Its not easy is it?

I hear you! Thats the thing...you never do know. I had severe painful nipples the day after I suspected I OVd this cycle (something I always get after ov!)...and yet they say I didnt...

Our bodies are strange, strange things!
