so confused/worried about potential ttc date!

Hubby and I planned to start TTC in June since we have house guests all of May and lots of overseas travel in the first half of June. However, my period has been wonky ever since I got off the pill and now I'm confused about my ovulation date.

I got my first post pill period within three weeks of stopping it. But my next period (that started today) has come only 35 days later! So the ovulation dates for June according to this cycle length fall in mid June (according to fertility friend) when hubs and I are unlikely to be together! And I'm not even sure if my cycle will continue to be regular - it might just change again next month! So now I'm afraid that we will end up missing our June fertile days and end up trying only in July.

Is anyone else struggling to stick to their TTC plan?

Hi Kiki,

What your going through is pretty normal... Its just your body trying to get back into the rhythm of things.

It does put a damper on things doesn't it? It must be so frustrating for you. I kind of already knew that this might happen to me, I spoke to a naturopath B4 stopping BC and she told me that whats happening to you is very likely for me too.

She said about 4 - 12 months to get back into the groove of things. She also said I can start trying straight away or to use protection until my AFs were regular. I choose to just go for it but not get too caught up about it. If it happens it happens... but I will definitely get my game on when they become regular.

If it does take awhile to become regular there are heaps of natural supplements and/or medications out there to help. But I guess you can cross that bridge when you come to it.

Good luck!!

Sorry YES it is hard to stick to the TTC plan... I think other people actually stopped their BC months before. I didn't. But I guess I am still trying in June though like yourself I probably will miss the boat.

Nevertheless I still classify it as TTC in JUNE 2013. With everything being out of wack it just might happen unexpectedly.

Kiki I hope we both get BFPs soon. I get so scared sometimes wondering if my journey will be a difficult one. I can't bare the thought of not having kids.

I know I am way ahead of myself. But that's a typical woman thing isn't it? Thinking WAAAYYYY ahead.

Thank you! I knew it could take time for everything to go back to normal but when it is actually happening, it kind of sucks. I stopped BC in March, probably should have done it a month or two earlier to get a better idea of my cycles.

Oh so glad you're trying in June too! I hope we both manage to not miss the boat and get BFPs soon. And don't worry, I know exactly how you feel - haven't even begun TTC and already I'm worrying about all sorts of things! *hug*

This is pretty much exactly what is happening to me. I went off the pill the end of february. Got AF at the normal time (end of the pack of pills around Feb 20) but then my next AF was not until 38 days later (march 28) and now I am waiting to see if it goes back to normal (im expecting af tomorrow) well see. I was kinda bummed out too when i plugged in the info to fertility friend because i really like my expected dd before, we are not trying until the end of August though. I hope you get back on track!

Thanks! But if you're waiting till august, i'm sure your cycles will start getting regular :-) I'm hoping mine will too, but can't be too sure

I'm in the irregular wonky boat too. My cycles went from 28 days on the pill to now ranging between 30 - 35 days so I don't know when my fertile days are other than when my lower region is giving me hints.

It does make it difficult as I would like to fall pregnant in May for a February baby. I have an app on my phone (My Days) that auto tracks future cycles as I put in info through the month.

Best of luck to you!! Fingers crossed that June will be your month!!

I'm relying on some apps too to check out whether I will be able to make my fertile days in June! Best of luck to you too, May so almost here and I'm hoping you get a BFP! :-)

When I went off the pill my cycle length bounced about between 21 and 40+ days until finally settling at around 35 days. It's completely normal, just mega frustrating! Lol!

I will say that you shouldn't rely on apps or anything similar which calculate your o date based on counting the days. They can sometimes be right, but are often wrong. Take me for example. When my cycles used to be 35 days long an app which counted days might tell me that I was fertile between cd16 to cd21 when in actual fact I was fertile between cd19 and cd24. My cycles were long but I had a shorter LP than most (luteal phase - after ovulation and before AF). I know it's not miles out, but if I was concentrating all of my "activity" on cd16 to cd21 and then stopping I would potentially be spoiling my chances.

The only way to know or sure without getting a test at the doctors is by charting your cycle. If you click the fluids n temps n ship link in my siggy and go to the reading section on there there's a sideshow that tells you all you need to know.

If charting is a bit much to begin with then just simply have sex every other day from AF to AF. failing that, listen to your body. Nature is amazing and will make sure you have the most desire for sex when you are the most fertile.

People have got pregnant straight off the pill, so it doesn't matter when your body ovulated as long as it actually does. Good luck! X

Thank you for that tip. I don't completely rely on them, I mostly use to them as a fertility forecast of when I could be fertile As of right now, we just do it when we please and I do notice when I believe I'm more fertile my parts are ready to go whether he is or not haha
