Getting pregnant after a c section - how long to wait?

Hello!

I'm new here in the waiting to try forum.

I am 28, married and had my first baby on July 1st this year. I had a problem free pregnancy throughout.

My waters broke naturally 2 days after my due date and contractions started on there own but unfortunatley they weren't dilating me enough. I only got to 3cm on my own. I was taken in on the 1st and induced and managed to get to 7cm but no further. Because my waters had broken so long before they didn't want to let me go any further and so rushed me down for an emergency c section. This went fine and I had a perfectly healthy baby girl.

I'm now wondering how long others have left it after a c section before trying to get pregnant again? We would have liked to amstart trying in December which would be 6 months after my section. I've read a lot that some say a year, some even say up to 2 years. If my body wasn't ready then we would wait up to a year but I definitley won't be waiting 2 years.

Anyone elses experiences of this would be great.

Oh and I plan on having an elective caesarean next time, I'm not worried at all about trying for a vbac. I experienced labour before and I'm happy with that!

Thanks!

Xxx

i haven't had a c-section but am a nurse (not expert midwife tho!) and have witnessed c-sections.... if i were you i would seriously heed the advice given and wait AT LEAST a year. Not being funny but the surgery they do is really brutal, severe abdo surgery. You don't want to risk your/future baby health for the sake of a few months!? Chin up, will come around soon enough!!!!

They normally advise you to wait 6 months to a year-some even say 2 years

I had a section in Feb, lost my little boy and 3 months later, I fell pregnant again. My scar hasnt healed the way it should have done-maybe because of a rare infection I had in it....and my consultant said, the scar is only going to get worse as the pregnancy goes on.

Definitely wait the recommended year hun at the very least. If something bad were to happen, you would probably blame yourself for not waiting long enough, ya know? I was told a year by my doctor as well.

I had a c-section done last September, which would make it 11 months ago now. The surgeon who did it, told us to hold off for an year. Said that it would be a risky pregnancy if I got did get pregnant before then, but do-able.
At first we thought it was waaaay too long to wait, but as time goes by and our wee girl grows and develops, we've realised that it's not really that long to wait! Time does go past really, really quickly.
So it's been an year soon. Whether we'll start trying for another next month once the year IS full, I don't know. Maybe.

Sorry for the stupidly long post. Answer to your question nice and short: I was adviced to wait for an year.
