My oldest cut himself on a can lid when he was a toddler.
He reached in the trash can and grabbed it (its pretty and shiney after all) and it sliced his palm right open. I freaked out but His father swooped him up put it under running water I insted he needed stiches and he said it was fine but I took him in any how and they said he DIDNT need stitches
but good golly it was a lot of blood for one little boy.
Who would have ever really thought that you shouldent put trash in the trash can??
lol

I'll never forget the time Aimee fell down the stairs when she was 2. It was a really nasty fall and she was very bruised and had carpet burns down her face! I took her to A&E and she was falling asleep in her pram on the way(I lived very close to the hospital) and I had to keep waking her up. Poor mite.

Unfortunately kids do have accidents. When I was two I put my hand in the hinge of a door and my friend slammed the door and the top of my middle finger came off! My mum must've been sooooo scared but luckily my friend's mum was a nurse and knew just what to do. Hospital sewed it back on and I now have a slightly wonky middle finger on my right hand!!!!!! Doesn't cause me bother as I've always had it!!!!!

Phoebe fell over when she was about 18 months old, literally fell over nothing in the front room but the blood that came out of her mouth was frightening!! I helpfully panicked while OH was trying to get her to spit the blood out of her mouth into the bath, it was everywhere. We took her to the minor injuries and she had split her gum all behind her teeth on the bottom. None of us could work out how she has done it. We had to take her to the dentish a couple of times after that to make sure her new teeth grew up fine which they have.
I think thats the worse thing we have had so far but it was horrible.

Some kids are just more accident prone than others, & it doesn't get better as they get older - it gets worse! In the past 2 years my eldest (14yrs) has broken his arm twice, broken his collar bone, nearly cut his finger tip off, broken his toe twice, gashed open his head three times, broken his finger & split his knee open. That's not mentioning all the other cuts & bruises!!! And no, he doesn't play contact sports!
You just deal with it the best you can, but it always makes my stomach lurch whenever my kids hurt themselves. I would advise any parent to go on a basic first aid course, just so you know what to do in an emergancy.
