anybody else trying to give up smoking?

Hiya.
Well me and DH are planning to TTC from december but before we can I have to give up smoking. Now I wouldnt say i'm a heavy smoker, when i'm at home I may just have up to 5 but now when i'm at work I smoke like a chimney, i'll have 1 after the other

and also when i'm around other family members who smoke alot. So i'm really, really trying to cut back and hope to quit ASAP. Just wondering if anyone else is trying to give up too?

Me and OH both smoke about 15 a day. We've given ourselves a set day to stop after Christmas and have bought an electric cigarette that'll help us give up hopefully. It's so hard but really worth it for our future baby

Hiya i give up 18 weeks ago now

. Its an amazing feeling. I went to my gp and they give me champix (not to be used when ttc) and they worked a treat. Good luck hunny xx

it wasnt fun but I did it
I weened myself back to about 8 cigs a day
and then quit cold turkey
I was gourchy and a complete bitch for about a week but I did it

My OH has smoked for over 20 years (started when he was about 12, silly boy) and he's doing great with an electronic cigarette! It's only been just under 2 weeks, but so far is having about 2 half ciggies a day and the rest is e-cig. I think he should be off of the real ones in a week or two! I'm so proud! So hopefully that'll help you guys out too!!

I dont smoke, never have but my hubby smoke 15/20per day in the 4years we have been together he tryed to quit 5times and never managed, he gets so grumpy without his fags, but he says the day I find out im pregnant he will quit for good, so ill let you know how he gets on!!

i gave up smoking about a mth and 1/2 ago i think i havent been counting lol... just need DH to bite the bullet now he has cut down but not quite there yet he is trying hard though bless him x

Im trying to give up to, we are going to start TTC in December. OH hates it and says there is no point taking folic acid and losing weight when Im still doing the most dangerous thing i can. I smoke 10ish a day which I didnt realise I smoked so much. I hate it but have found it really hard this time to give up.
Im going out the next two weekends in a row which will be fatal for me as I cant have a drink and not smoke so I think Im going to set Nov 1st as give up day!!! Im on holiday that week so I can put my full attention to it and have no more nights out until Xmas.

1st 3 days were the worst for me... once the 1st week was over it got better (not helped by the fact dh was still smoking grrrr)
now i am the worse nti smoker lol..
i put my cig money in a jar and now we go out to a family roller disco each week with the "£" i would have spent on cigs.

i quit because i had chest pain and it scared the life outta me i ended up having a panic attack, ecg and found out i had a heart murmur and had to hve a heart echocardiogram yesterday.. so i dont regret quitting

plus my lil babies are so proud of momma x

Wow thank you hun, that's inspired me! I'm so sure we'll be able to do it, the e-cigs are really great. We've asked for the nicotine refills for Christmas from our parents too because they're £5 for 20 ciggies worth and I already have 4 boxes so we should be all set come December!
