Hughes Syndrome-antiphospholipid syndrome (APS)

Hi,
I wondered if anyone on here has this, as I have still not had any answers from the hospital and are not due any untill December (its so unfair they make you wait so long). I am so scared of something going wrong again. I cant bear how sad my husband is and dont want this to happen again.
I just want to know what I will need to do when / if we start TTC again...

Hi MaevesMummy. I tested positive for Lupus Anticoagulant or Antiphospholipid Syndrome after my 3rd miscarriage in February this year. It is an autoimmune disorder. I already have one autoimmune disorder, Graves' disease, which is why they tested me for it. It is very important that the blood is tested within 24 hours of being taken or the result may come back as a false negative. What the specialist told me was that the Lupus Anticoagulant attacks the developing placenta causing the pregnancy to fail. Since the diagnosis I have become pregnant and have been successfully treated with Heparin and Aspirin. So far everything is going well.

I am so sorry for your loss. It must have been so devastating for you and your husband. I hope that you get some answers and that you have a healthy pregnancy soon.
