Preparing...

I'm not TTC until September next year, but I have already started trying to get healthier and to prepare my body for pregnancy. I think to some extent its just a way for me to feel like I'm actually on my way towards having a baby!

But anyway... a couple of weeks ago I decided that the time had come for me to kick my Diet Coke habit (I seriously drink 4 or 5 cans a day!). So, I bought in some caffeine free first of all and then was going to wean myself off totally later... but I'm really struggling! On 2 separate days that I stopped drinking regular Diet Coke I got genuine caffeine withdrawal symptoms!

So I thought I'd put a post out to see if anyone else is trying to break a habit/do anything special to get there bodies ready for a bump...

I've been going to the gym for a few months now to try and get fitter to prepare for pregnancy. I hadn't thought about trying to give up coke. I only have a glass a day so not quite sure how bad that is, but it's probably not good. I have a real sweet tooth so I think my problem would be giving up the sugar rather than the caffeine!

A glass of coke a day is fine. As long as it's not more than that, because if you consume more, we are told here in the US, that it can increase the risk of miscarriage.
I am trying to go caffine free, except for my cup of tea I drink every day. Just one cup and no more than that. I was told by my doctor drinking one cup of black tea can help when you're TTCing. I too have had caffine withdrawls and they're horrible, but thank goodness for Advil!

Yeah I've heard similar things so I definitely want to go caffeine free too. It just looks like it might take me a while and a lot of Paracetamol!

I may try and reduce the amount anyway then just to be on the safe side. My OH has also started eating much more healthily so that's good.

I'm planning a major health kick come January because we are planning TTC next September.

I'm planning to add lots more green veggies (like spinach and broccoli) to my diet, ask my doc what vitamins and how much frolic acid I should be taking, join a gym (apparently yoga is a good option) and cut out caffeine and junk food.

My OH is doing the same (except for taking frolic acid!!) to support me - and to get super healthy too.

Giving up coke is definitely going to be the most difficult thing - I LOVE it but know that I drink too much, which is not good for me. Really not looking forward to the withdrawls.

Good luck!!

I get really bad caffeine withdrawals to. I am currently on de-caff tea in the day and then up to 2 cups with caffeine in the evening.

I have lost 2 stone in weight recently and trying to go swimming once a week.

Me and hubby are a lot healthier now and feel better for it. He has also cut down a lot on his alcohol and I barely ever drink anyway.

I am totally addicted to diet coke. It's going to be hard to give up, but I definitely plan on doing it the first of the year. It will be my New Years Resolution. Thank goodness for Chic-fil-a and their caffeine free diet coke.
