If people are updating status's for the child-I think that's strange. I won't be, I'd just upload them on my account!

Why is it strange? It's just as strange as writing your own fb status then as you need to write that in the 3rd person for it to make sense! Less strange writing about someone else than yourself as if you were someone else don't you think.

Hey ho, I think we are just going to have to disagree.

I just don't see the point, may as well just use your own fb profile. It's not as if the child can reply.

For me, the point would have been as I explained it in my previous post, and I don't think it's strange - I think it's quite nice! As I said, though, I didn't bother in the end.

I see it as a similar to what I did for LO's naming ceremony - I asked everyone to write something for him (I was quite specific with the theme, but won't bother with details here), and I included a little card with the invitation for people to write on. Because this was a specific request, people did it, and I have lots of lovely messages to keep for LO to look at when he's older. No, it's not as if he can answer - but actually I sent some of the thank you cards "from him"! I thought it was cute.

But had I not done this thing with the invitations, then I don't think many people would have sent messages to him directly. But people are much more likely to post on something like FB! So that would have been my purpose - to collect nice messages from people welcoming LO personally to the world. I know he can't reply himself, but I just think it might be nice for him to look back at when he's older. I'd be fascinated to see messages for me sent when I was a baby from my mum's friends! In my mind that's not the same thing as people congratulating me as LO's mum.

My horse has one!!! I did it mostly as a joke though when I was bored (before I had LO) and then my horse went and added lots of my friends and they were like "WTF?!"
I think it's a cute idea having FB pages for your LO. Nothing creepy about it at all, but I probally wont do one for LO because I don't have time now! I'll keep my horses one!

This is what confuses me, you clearly wouldn't accept anyone dodgy, you just accept people you know in real life?

I would to keep family that live far away updated. I'd set as private as possible and opnly add aunts and uncles etc. I wouldn't write it as if I was the baby though iykwim? I don't see how it would be creepy if only family could see it
