REALLY OVERWEIGHT and fixing to start ttc

The closer it gets which (we have decided to go ahead and try the first of January) the more I am worried about how much my weight will affect being pregnant. It is kind of scarry now I am thinking that maybe I should wait and loose some weight. I know several people a lot bigger than I am and have had no problems at all. Maybe I am trying to chicken out. IDK! I just dont want to end up with complications!! I really cannot aford it. BUT then I think of how many skinny people end up with all kinds of problems. Anyone else going a head even tho you need to loose some weight? (and I am not talking like 20lbs I am talking about like 50lbs or more!)

I want to lose a lot of weight before i TTC as i already have a serious back problem (which makes it harder to lose weight ) But yes i want to try lose at least 3 stone (not sure what that is in lbs lol) Ive been doing calorie control diet and around 30mins of exercise a day however i want to slowly increase the exercise as my back gets stronger. However i do know afew bigger pregnant women who dont seem to be having any problems at all. But like u i dont want the complications and i really dont need my back anyworse. Good luck with the weight loss

Im going to start after christmas and new year because I know any weight I lose now will ALL go back and plus more if i do! So, come January I'm hoping to give myself 8 months to lose two stones (28 pounds)

Wishing you luck, even if you manage to lose just a bit of weight every little helps! Its not too late to start cutting down
Hope everything works out for youuu

I was overweight when I got preggers, it was planned, but I was lucky I didnt have any of the problems that you usually associate with a 'high risk' pregnancy. I did actually loose weight (about 1 stone) whilsh pregnant! However I don't know if I was just lucky or if the weight loss was caused by the cancer I found out I had at 36 weeks.

I have just over a year b4 TTC and I am going to try to loose about 3 - 4 stone. The reason is to minimise risk but a another big reason is because I didnt show very much until I was about 7 months, next time I want people to know im preggers rather than thinking im just bigger than I usually am!

Good luck in your weight losses and TTC xxx

I too am trying to loose weight. I have lost about 13lbs now, but I count carbs since I'm diabetic. I eat high protein and low carb meals. Meaning I have a plate of half protein and half veggies such as carrots, green beans, sweet peas and sometimes I have mashed potatoes, but they are high in carbs. I eat whatever, but I'm not supposed to have more than 15 carbs per mean and 7 carbs per snack, so I snack on pecans and nuts. However the holidays aren't helping me much!

Hello!
I'm overweight, and feel like I need to lose some weight before having my second. Mostly because the hospital here, where I would want to deliver, has a cutoff for weight. If your BMI gets to a certain point, they won't deliver here. And that scares me. I don't want to go out of town to deliver. We've finally decided that we do want to have another, but I feel like I need to get myself more healthy, before getting pregnant. But then part of me says, why work to lose weight if it's just going to come back on, etc.

I weigh about 15 pounds more than when I got pregnant with my first.

But, as friends have told me, if you keep coming up with reasons to wait, when will it ever happen??

Good luck!

I was very overweight whilst pregnant with my first. (This is a thread that documents my experience: http://www.babyandbump.com/baby-club...-pregnant.html) but I had a positive experience. However, I want to lose weight before my second so I can have more birthing options.

Thanks so much MRSRAGGLE! I read all it. I just loved being pregnant with my others and the thought of me never really showing or my children being able to see the waves in my tummy makes me kind of sad. I weigh a LOT more now that when I gave birth to my last. I had absolutly no problems what so ever when I had him. I only pushed 1 time and he was out so I really dont think it will affect labor for some reason I do really well having babies all natural! lol BUT I am older and wiser than with the last 2 I guess when it comes down to it as long as I do my part it is all in Gods hands!
