I've already been through it once and I'm still scared for next time, each time is different! Granted, next time I know we will pretty well have a set date and we'll be going in for a scheduled c-section.. still afraid, nothing ever goes totally according to plan and we can't control all variables!

i also think the fear/anxiety is magnified if you have been convincing your OH a lot - it puts more responsibility on you: you're the one who has had to focus primarily on the positive, and you're the one who has guaranteed that it will work out well! so you may be more inclined to feel it will be your sole responsibility to get up at 3 am when baby is shrieking, etc. maybe?

for me/us, we've been "ready" in all ways except paying off debt for probably over a year or more - we are also not the youngest critters in the WTT forums (I am 27, DH is 36). thinking of myself at age, say, 22, i would have been teeerrriiiifffiiiiieed at the prospect of having a baby - but not now. even if you'd asked us a year ago, i think we would have had a lot more fear/anxiety than we do now! now, i don't really ever feel fear about it - just excitement !!!

Totally agree with u.

I'm glad I'm not alone! Some days it feels like all I want is to start a family, but I'm another big overthinker and tend to drive myself a bit loopy with all the factors to it.
The thought of birth itself is really scary to me, but also really exciting at the same time. Then I think of the fact I won't be able to just do what I like, when I like...then again, all I ever do anyway is go to work, then come home and do the ironing so that won't be a big change...!

The OH and I sat down last night and discussed TTC in 2011 and I just burst into tears...it was a mixture of massive excitement and overwhelming fear...my knee-jerk reaction was "shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit"

Yes, my daughter was an emergency c-section, maternal distress/failure to progress. 2.5 hours of pushing and she wasn't 'low enough' for a ventouse or forceps intervention even.. there's our failure to progress part, my LO was doing alright but my heart rate was high and blood pressure was low, had been vomitting, started to run a temp and became catatonic, so was not able to push any longer. OBGYN said she wouldn't have fit through and was stuck anyway, she was born 6lbs 1oz but has a big melon head lol. So she will take me on as a patient next time, and she says she wouldn't recommend a vaginal delivery attempt unless I have a smaller baby, and then she said she was a fine size for being "my baby" as I am petite but really that's about as small as you want to be at full term

It's like there's two sides of me--the logical and the emotional--and each of those two sides have two sides, the good and the bad. And all four of those parts of me continuously argue with each other...It's constant bickering in my head: "it will be so fun! but it could be super scary...or it will be really hard. but it will be so worth it in the end! but it will wreak havoc on your body! but who cares, you're creating life!"

Wow, i sound totally insane lol!
Haha, brilliant! That is totally it!!
