Anyone else just avoiding fertile periods roughly???

No other way of putting it LOL only had 1 cycle since off pill..so just roughly avoiding ovulation time, other than that we are enjoying lots of funtime

Planning on waiting until I am fully qualified, so 3 years ish. Enjoying taking a more relaxed approach!

Last cycle was a whopping 37 days... keeping an eye out for ov carefully this month, overall a lot less upsetting for me then taking the pill

Anyone else rough charting so to speak??

xxx

I'm glad you posted this, we were thinking of trying this because I've come off the pill as I've been on it for 10 years and wanted my cycles to return to normal, condoms aren't always convenient, so we were thinking of trying this. I'm worried though, because we're waiting due to job changes, wanting to pay off debts etc so although a 'woopsie' would be welcomed, I know it would probably be best to wait.
How safe do you recon it is? My cycle has returned quickly and is fairly regular, I think if i can just get my head around the charting business, it should be ok.

Best not to risk it if you dont know when your ovulation dates are, I was a normal 28 day cycle from the minute I left the pill so can plot quite easily when I will ovulate and as my cycles dont vary there isnt a significant risk

I use an online cycle calculator - put a few months of dates into it and you will get some more reliable feedback to your own personal cycle. Until then unless you do want a baby be careful lol!

I'm doing this also but only WTT till Feb so an oopsie at this stage would only be a little early!
I ordered the book Taking Charge of your Fertility by Toni Weschler on amazon cos I had seen it recommended a few times on here. It arrived on Fri and I'm loving it! Really interesting and easy to read. And the best bit is when we move from WTT to TTC we can use all the same information but for the opposite purpose!!!

I got the stage of not wanting to actively use contraception over the summer, so this is just so much easier!

I use temp, checking changes as well as charting.. feel so much better off of the pill also. OH commented on how much better I am health wise

Taking it a month at a time for now! The mini pill was okay for me, shall see, 3 years is a long time!

Good to know its not just me Guess we are between WTT and NTNP

we did this, but we then went to using withdrawal because my OH did not feel comfy just roughly relying on my judgments and i might have to go back on mini pill because i think he is still not too comfy with this, but i think we need to have a talk again since i really don't want any artificial hormones anymore.

how did your OH take this "just relying on your judgment of your cycles" if you plan on doing this for 3 years? did u have to convince him?

We have been doing this off and on since January. (It's complicated - we were WTT January-May, then TTC June-July, then found out I have a thyroid disease and had to go back to WTT since July basically). If you want to be really careful, you should really follow all the rules, but there end up being a LOT of days when you can't have sex! Here's where I'm getting the rules from:

http://homestar.org/bryannan/fertile.html

So, sometimes we have cut the corners a bit... haven't had any oopsies but my sister had an oops when she was using this method and cutting corners. She was using this as her only form of birth control for years though.

Anyway, I think this is a good method for us when we just have to WTT for a few months, but it would drive me crazy if it were a matter of years! It's just kind of depressing because the days I am most in the mood are my fertile days and we aren't allowed to have sex.

I guess it was as simple for me as either - no protection at all or we be sensible and abstain for 5 days a month! The latter was more appealing

He saw how unwell I have been on the pill & tried the implant ..worse 6 weeks of my life!

We keep an eye on things, but a fertile day isnt going to stop us if we want to ...err..ahem lol

Good to know there is someone else charting etc whilst WTT
