What would you do???

Hello

Im just after some thoughts really. I am in remmission from hodgkins lymphoma and have been for 6 months, I have been advised by my oncologist to wait ATLEAST 2 years before we TTC again. The reason for this is that the cancer is most likely to return within this time.

OK here are my thoughts on this, whos to say that I am clear for the 2 years and then we TTC and It comes back then, I would have wasted 2 years where I cold have had a healthy pregnancy. Or it might never come back. I was unlucky enough to get it at 36 weeks pregnant before how can they it wont happen again?

Its just I feel so healthy right now and it feels like the right time, my heart says yes go for ir bur my head and OH says we need to wait!

ARRRRGGGGHHHHH........What woud you do??

xxxx

Hi Hun, well done and congratulations on remission, may it be forever xxxxxxx

It's really up to you, it's your decision...

BUT hypothetically, if it was me, I'm all for positive thinking, the cancer is NOT coming back, I would let my body do what is right for it. Not try, not prevent.

Good luck to you xxxxxxxxxx

Hiya, and huge congratulations on the remission. I hope it stays that way forever for you!

I'm agreeing with the other poster, I would rather spend the next 2 years doing and thinking about something positive, not dwelling on the 'what ifs', I'd let my body decide what's right for me and see what happens with ntnp.

I'd be looking at it the way you are, 2 years is a long time, and if that time passes without you getting ill again you're likely to regret not trying earlier!

Ultimately only you can decide though. But I wish you every success with whatever you decide!

Good luck!

Xxx

I would definitely get another opinion. Maybe explain to the DR what you're thinking. I am by nature a big rule follower (I'm an accountant) so find it hard to disregard those things. BUT only you know you're body and what you can handle. If it were me I'd want to be prepared, what if you were pregnant and it did come back, what would happen. Just so you can be prepared for the what ifs?
Good luck on your decision! And to positive thinking!!!

I agree, second opinion! And congrats on your remission!

Oh I would also ask (unless you already know) if the recommended wait period has anything to do with clearing your body of the treatments you previously had?

best of luck!

i agree.....congrates on the remission i'd get another opinion, another specialist/doctor might say only wait a year, i have no idea how it feels to make a difficult decision like this. NTNP def sounds a good option if ur body wants to fall pregnant then it will, no body knows ur body like urself. Good luck with it x

Thank you for your thoughts hunni,

I asked the docs at my last check up about the chemo that is still in my body now and if it would harm a baby now if I were to fall pregnant. She said as long as its been atleast 6 months it would be ok, but she still advised me about the 2 year wait!!

Thank you all for your thoughts, I really appreiciate it. I think me and my OH need to have a chat on what we think is best for us and our daughter.

Hope you all have a fab christmas and heres to a happy and healthy new year xxx

Congrats on the wonderful news, I hope you stay in remition forever!

If it were me, I would get a second opinion. I would also make sure my body is okay, and clear of any treatments before NTNP or TTC as metioned above.

Good luck!
