Hiya, I can't offer any help with how to work out when you ovulate but just wanted to say that I have long cycles too. 42 days with a 4 day period. I've never bothered trying to work it out adobe never tried to avoid that time, all I know is when we did decide to ttc we just dtd every other day to make sure we didn't miss it! It is really frustrating having to wait so long every month though.

I think if you go to your doctor there's a blood test they can carry out on cycle day 21 which can tell if you ovulate or not, not sure if it cantell you when though. I guess temping and looking at your cervical mucus is prob the best way to go!

Good luck!

X

A healthy luteal phase is over 10 days, so if I were you, I would assume 10-15 days before your period.

I highly recommend www.fertilityfriend.com It's free (or you can pay for the VIP upgrade). Before I charted my cycles with temps I always assumed I o'd around cd14 and assumed my period was "late" at cd31-32ish. Now I know I O anywhere from cd17 to 20 and have a LP of 13 to 14 days. I recognize all the O signs thanks to Fertility Friend and even recognize O pains which I never noticed before (or passed off as just being gas). You can use a special BBT thermometer which is expensive, but my regular digital one works great and was only $10.

GL!!

Thanks for all the replies. nice to know im not the only one finding it a pain!! i signed up on fertility friend but to be honest its all a bit much for me !! it looks like u have to input a lot of info every day im not sure i have the time. also it cant tell me much yet cos i only have the past 2 cycles to go by, the others since pill have all been 60 days plus... guess i just have to wait and see... thanks 4 the support

also have to confess more bd lol. if i am going by 36 day cycle may be fertile time, if going by 47 like last one then not!!

I am going to be driving myself potty now till af shows, wondering what if?!
