Really long cycles ...help working out ov date?

hi ladies a little help please! my cycles are very long and irregular however thr last 2 have been a a bit better, 36 and 42 days...soooo.... from what i read online u have to subtract 14 from the last day, as if i understand it right then the time from ov to period is always 14 days, and its the first half that differs from woman to woman (!?) so 42 minus 14 is 28. so did i ov on day 28 last cycle? or does it not work for really long cycles...?

arg confused !! been contemplating this more today as dtd this morning and on cd19. also did on cd 14 and 16. now i know in a normal cycle this wud mean there would be a chance of pregnancy, but how about in mine??!

any opinions or ideas to help me know when i ov wud be much appreciated. i hope u dont mind me posting this here i am sort of ntnp with a bit of avoiding fertile time but as u can see im not sure when that is!!! but am also waiting to try more next sept ( if oh will agree he thinks ntnp is it) i feel most comfy here in wtt tho!

Mine is around 37 days, then 1 day period. I am currently using online calculator, then checking also mucus etc.. we just avoid this time(ish) but not strictly.

The online tool says CD 23 using my past two cycles, so we will avoid couple days before and after this.

It is a bit tricky! hope that is some help!!

Hi there,
The time after ov varies slightly for everyone but it's generally between 12 & 16 days. The time before ov differs more greatly and can be affected by things like stress, travel etc.
Have you thought about temping? That's prob the best way to see when you ovulate. It's very easy - you just take your temperature first thing each morning and record it (there are online charts you can use or you can just do it the old fashioned way with pen and paper!) and certain changes in your temp will tell you when you have ovulated. If you're interested have a look at fertilityfriend.com They explain it all very clearly.
Good luck!

im glad someone else has a long cycle too. any other long cycle ladies want to rant? have to wait so long each month to find out if any chance i could be pregnant!
