How are you getting your body ready for a healthy pregnancy?


Hey Ladies,

Just wondering how you guys are getting your body ready for the little one (besides taking Folic Acid).

I've been taking Folic Acid for a month now and have started working out at home 4 nights a week. Im just trying to eat healthier ... ITS SOO HARD!! lol

I already eat healthy as I am intolerant to Gluten so I have to make all my food from scratch anyway so I eat a lot of fresh fruit and veg but as of Jan-11 in preparation I am making sure I drink at least 2 litres of water a day and in Feb-11 I am starting to go swimming 3 times a week to keep fit.

Not sure when I should start taking Folic acid or other pre-pregnancy vitamins though as hopefully beginning TTC in Aug-11!?

I'm trying my hardest to put on weight! I weigh less than 7st and I managed to conceive twice at this weight but ideally i'd like to have another half a stone on top of that to feel healthy.

Wow you are very prepared, I always tend to make my food from fresh, as I love too cook, sometimes it can be time consuming but as I said I do love cooking.
I am hoping to conceive some time this year.

Thanks don't feel that prepared to be honest and still have this constant fear that it is going to take a ridiculously long time to conceive when we do eventually try

I've got a lot of excess weight to lose, and want to be fit as well.
Then will need to come off the pill, let body return to normal & start taking folic acid, then start TTC! Lots to do....

I am SOO relieved I am not the only one who is in this situation! I was really worried about mentioning this as I quite often get 'Oh man I wish i was in your situation', I often feel 'no, no you don't'.

I'm a little bit bigger than you are but am still pretty tiny! My aims are to gain aout half a stone as well, but it's SO hard as everything I eat just doesn't gain me any weight. I'm also wheat/gluten/dairy intolerant so as mentioned above I also cook everything from scratch so am SUPER aware what goes into my body.

Eat more, gain weight, and rest up (due to another health condition) is my plan!

I too am attempting to lose weight and get healthier before (if) I get pregnant again. I gained A LOT of weight with my 1st son almost 5 years ago and with my second gained a normal amount of weight but was a lot heavier to begin with. Then I will go off the pill and let body return to normal. Hoping everyone achieves their goals and has a quick and easy time at TTC. For my first 2 children they were planned, went off the pill about 5-6 months in advance and always got pregnant 2-3 months earlier than planned. If we do decide to TTC I would love to do just that, "TRY" TC instead of NTNP.
