The baby talk - newish member

Hi there!

The OH has always admitted he hasn't been ready for a baby. He tells me he wants children, just not yet. A familiar story in many peoples cases as I've come to realize!

I'd plucked up the courage a week or so ago to finally verbalize my desire to conceive, and he said he new I was longing, but didn't feel we where in the right circumstances (financial, saving for a mortgage, me not working (I now have a job)). But since then nothings been said, and I always fear talking to him about it.

We have a great relationship, and I love him dearly, and we're open about absolutely everything else, just this one thing makes me a little nervous. It's life changing.

After telling him I was having a hard (broodyness) related week, he declared we will talk about the baby situation this weekend! I'm not sure whether to be worried or happy/excited. I'm not quite sure where this convocation will head either.. I'd really like to know either way, so I can atleast say "We will be TTC in ...." and be able to put a date to it, so at least I have something to focus on.

As far as preparing for the 'talk' I feel i'll be able to answer the questions he'll inevitably ask, but still, it's worrying.

How have peoples 'Talk' gone and what type of things where discussed?

Thankies girlies.

With me and my OH its abit the same and u and ur OH he says hes not ready, and he knows how much i want it.......We've had alot of general talks about it but last time we had the proper sit down and talk about it he told me he still wasnt ready and we needed more time before TTC, at the time he said he would be happy to start NTNP before moving to TTC which i was happy with. I would tell him that uve thought of all the practical issues that come with having a (as men tend to "think" practical) Just be honest about when u would like to TTC and how would he feel about it? Good luck

Thank you for the reply!

It will be the same with my OH, he will be worried about the practical issues, so as you say, i'll definitely try to put across that Ive considered as many of them as possible. I don't think my OH has really heard of NTNP, so I'm going to suggest that too him.

With the injection, I know alot of woman's fertility does not return right away, and my GP has already said it could take 6 - 12 months for my AF to return to a regular cycle. So i'm going to try to put that across to him more seriously this time, that we probably won't be read till the end of this year, which with me starting my new job and my out of work study I think will fit in really well..

I'll have to contain any excitement and wait and see whats said.

Yeah the injection can take a while for AFs to get back to normal cycles. It sounds like u have thought it through well, and im sure ur OH will see that its not like u are jumping it at the deep end without any thought
