WTT- Thinking about weight

I'm WTT, and I'm working on my weight meanwhile. I've figured out my BMI, but I'm not sure I agree with this method and I wanted to see what the rest of you think...

I'm 5ft 6, approx. 220 lbs and I wear womens size 18-20 in pants and about a 16-18 in tops. I'd like to think I get a little bit of a curve on the weight thing bc I've always been curvy and big-chested. Even when I was 128 lbs I had 32 D size bra. Now I'm in a 40DD.

Anyways, I also carry alot of muscle, especially in my legs and muscle weighs more than fat so I wonder if that was taken into consideration for BMI. How accurate can this be?

I'd like to get down to at least 190, but according to the BMI I should only weigh something like 120 for my height and I think that's way too thin. There's too much pressure from the media to look a certain way, but I think it's more important to be happy and healthy with the weight that you feel best at.

I know being over weight can be hard on a pregnancy but I really think this BMI thing is nonsense. With a good diet, exercise, and good general health I don't see any reason anyone should have to lose 100 lbs to have a baby. I just wanted some other people's opinions on this.

You are correct that muscle does weigh more than fat. Your bmi can be 20-26 though so there is a range.

Different people do carry weight differently, so I'd say if your happy with the weight that's the main thing. I am 5ft 10 and currently 187 pounds which is bmi 27. Now I want to get down to 150 ish, which I have been before and know it looks ok. Any smaller than that and I look bad as like u I am curvy and my hips stick out etc.

I am a 36 DD and my dh is concerned that I will probably end up a 34 C if my weight goes down! Lol men!

Sorry for rambling, I guess only you can know what looks best on you. 190
for your heightdoes sound like a lot though.

Good luck with the weight loss. Xx

Yeah, 190 is still heavy. My ultimate goal is about 150 but I try to set realistic goals. Getting to 190 will be the hard part, then after that my metabolism should be better, as should my habits.

Then I think I'll try to kick off another 20 lbs after baby and get to a healthy 130 lbs. Unless I'm happy with a little more weight than that. I think I'll look good around 150 tho. I guess we'll see as only time and lots and lots of work will tell.

My DF is concerned about my 't&a' shrinking as well, but I've guaranteed him they won't budge much.

I've lost 5 lbs already but that will come back when AF does. Blah!

Anyways, good luck with your weight loss Miss Broody! And thanx for the response = )

im losing weight too, i personally dont go with the BMI recommendation purely cus if i was the weight the government says i should be i'd look stupidly thin, i like to be a size 14 and atm am 16, im board and curvy not a twiglet lol i think u should get to what u want to be and look, as long as u exercise and eat healthly i cant see why u wouldnt have a healthy pregnancy. Sometimes people forget u can be just as unhealthy underweight than over weight good luck with the weight loss x

Thanx odd_socks! I couldn't agree more. I think BMI is stupid but I've had doctors tell me to go by it. I went to a nutritionist and she said my ideal weight was 108-120. Gross! I don't want to look like Kate Moss, thank you!

Also, I went to the hospital about 6 months ago and they were scolding me for high blood pressure bc of my weight. (I promise you that I don't look like I weigh 220 lbs.) I was like "I can guarantee you that if I was at home right now I would be fine. Hospitals make me very nervous." But they wanted to argue with me as if being over weight can be the only cause for high blood pressure. Grrr!

Aww i get very nervous at hospitals and doctors so they always think mine is up too, the more they tell me to relax it makes me worse lmao silly me!

No i wouldnt want to be like kate moss either i like to have curves and my OH likes boobs and hips and a bum on me not like a twig

I think u should be what u want to be though, i remember going to the docs at size 14 and him telling me to lose weight (i looked in proportion to my build) and i told him to no chance, i was a healthy weight and alot fitter than my friends who were a size 8-10

Yes, I love my curves. I remember in junior high and high school I hated them tho bc all the cute clothes were for girls shaped like 12 year old boys lol. So when everyone else got to wear cute juniors tops i had to shop in ladies and there wasn't much that was cute! So I ended up in cut up band t-shirts (that I still like to this day).

But as far ans size to weight ratio goes I really think it depends on the individual. My room mate got the lap sleeve and now she weighs less than me but she still looks much bigger than me. It's crazy. My bf says it's bc she's got a 'hammer-ass' lol.
o_O
Not very nice! But my bum takes up most of my pants whereas her gut takes up most of hers.

I was really thinking about all of this alot the other day and I'm glad to get some other ladies' opinions on it. thanks everyone! = )
