What would you do?

Ok so originally the plan was to TTC in September when we go on holiday, but i since found out you can't take malaria tablets if TTC (we are going to Kruger national park and Mauritius)

DH told me last night that he was happy to start TTC now, well, actually i should probably say NTNP.
The holiday is due to be paid in June, so if i did fall pregnant by then we would cancel and just lose our deposit.

In June, it's my DH's 30th birthday and i am taking him on holiday for a week which he doesn't know anything about, so i don't know when i should come off it? I don't know when is a good time?

Suzie

I'm pretty sure you can travel anywhere up to 28 weeks, and after with a doctors certificate. I may be wrong, but I seem to recall this from somewhere. So if where ever your taking your OH doesn't require jabs/tablets etc then you could still TTC and go that holiday for his birthday?

Hi Suzie1985. I had a very similar dilemma to you. I think if you feel such a strong urge to start trying and you and your husband are happy with your lifes then you should just go for it.

We have a big holiday planned for May this year and I seriously thought about just throwing caution to the wind and seeing what happens. BUT I absolutely love travelling and going on holiday, eating lots of seafood and drinking wine and I am pretty sure I wouldn't be as relaxed or enjoy it quite as much if I was pregnant. So we are treating this as our third honeymoon and (fingers crossed) last holiday just the two of us. In a way it had made it a bit more special and we're both really looking forward to it (and planning to stop preventing while we're away!).

Let us know what your decide! X

I LOVE travelling...went on a 7 week trip through east africa before we started TTC. And I'm sooo happy I did. It was the last big trip I wanted to do before having babies. Everything changes when you have a baby, so you should do the trip I and start after that!

You could come off the pill just now to let your body get back into a cycle? I have been off the pill for years and it honestly was the best thing for my body.

We're off to Cuba - a week in Havana and a week in Varadero by the sea... Can't wait. You're holiday sounds fab too. We have been on safari to Kenya which was amazing. I LOVE going on holiday!

I'd probably wait until after the holiday. I'd look at it as our last holiday as a couple before baby comes along
