New to WTT!

Hello ladies,

I'm new to baby and bump & need some advice! Basically, I came off the pill last april to start ttc this march. After a few months, I had a really bad acne breakout which hasn't resolved. Unfortunately, I've now reached the point where I am back on diannette (birth control pill which helps acne) & I may have to put ttc on hold for 5/6 months in order to go on a course of accutane (strong acne treatment which you cannot ttc whilst on/ for a month afterwards)

What would you ladies choose to do if you were me? Go ahead with the treatment/ ttc in the hope pregnancy helps my acne?

Thanks

Hi sorry didn't want to read and run, welcome to WTT

I guess it all depends on you and your situation and how much the acne bothers you?

I am WTT for 6 months and I am hoping they will go very quickly! So if you do decide to wait we could be TTC same time and there are a lot of other ladies on here that are waiting the same or longer who will be here to help you through whichever decision you make

Thanks hon,

Acne bothers me A LOT. I've reached the point where I don't like to leave the house except for work BUT my desire to start ttc is huge! I finally feel like we are ready!
If you don't mind me asking, why are you waiting to ttc Twag?

Unfortunately I am having to wait to TTC until Aug (hopefully) as OH wants me to have pretty much finished my accounting exams (if I have passed the Dec ones results Monday) then I only have 3 left so 2 in June and then results in Aug and if I have passed TTC time!

We are both ready to have a baby and we were TTC on our honeymoon in November but MIL and OH work buddies told him it would be better if I was finished exams first as I will not concentrate and finish (complete rubbish) so hence now WTT

If you are really that upset about the acne and there is nothing to say that being pregnant will make it better and could make it worse (I have known people to have bad skin when pregnant) then I think if it was me I would prob get that sorted first and then start TTC! but saying that I am 31 this April and would also worry about the age thing etc like I am now

How old are you if you don't mind me asking?

hi flipper, welcome!! i have to say i agree with twag. i think its all down to your personal situation, eventhough you have a strong desire, if your age and circumstances allow you to wait then thats great. but you never know, everyone reacts differently to pregnancy...some people say its the healthiest they have ever felt...so i dont know if your acne would clear up during pregnancy...someone might be able to shed some light on that for you.

hope this helps a little xx

Thanks girls, I'm 22, so age shouldn't be a problem, but I'm also a Midwife, so want to get on with it as I see how much better the birth experience is, the younger the mother!!!

I say go with what you think is best as really only you can answer your question

Is it really that much of a difference for the older mother? I only ask as I am 30 (31 in April) and won't be TTC until Aug-11 and being older does worry me and as your a midwife you see this kind of thing first hand x

Aww really? I notice from that One Born Every Minute (which I love!) that the younger girls seem to take it much more in their stride that the ladies over 30!

Personally, I've found that the younger women take it in their stride & accept the pain etc. as a path of course. Older women, say 35 +, tend to have spent many years being able to be selfish and doing what they choose to do, so find it harder to be patient with the labour process, refuse to be in pain (have early epidurals which increases chance of instrumental/ CS) and are more selfish in the postnatal period. For example, not accepting that a newborn will be awake all night wanting to BF as they are programmed to do so!! So tend to give up BF to bottle feed baby.

Of course, Im generalising here, there are MANY exceptions!!!!
Thanks for your advice, guess I need to follow my heart! Not many of us do that anymore do we?! x
