What is the plug?

I've read a lot of stories and people keep going on about losing a plug. What is this plug?

I realise reading peoples stories here that I know nothing about pregnancy hardly.

Are you talking about the plug when they go into labour? Its a thick mucus like blood clot I think that covers the cervix and you lose it when your in labour
Hope this helps

Yeah Besty has got it right, it's a mucousy plug with blood in it that you can lose in the weeks up to your due date. Not everyone notices it though. I lost mine over a few days, when I wiped (sorry if tmi) there was lots of stringy mucous with streaks of blood. The day after I lost the last bit my waters broke.

X

Thanks folks. I'd never heard of it before this site LOL

There is so much to know about pregnancy. Think I will only know more things if it works out when I'm TTC.

Yea its a blob of mucus that 'plugs' the cervix in pregnancy, it doesn't always have blood in it though. It usually looks like a big bogey xx
