Do you think you are more likely to conceive a certain sex...

if there is one that is more dominant in your oh's family/ or is it just purely 50/50?

for example, in my oh's family, his dad's dad, was one of 10 (yes 10 ) boys, who went onto to have 4 boys, then my ohs dad had 3 boys (although two of his bros had a girl each).
We have a little boy, so do you think we are destined to have all boys or is it purely 50/50 like i said above? xx

Im not sure hehe

In my family: my dad had 1 girl 2 boys, his sister had 3 girls, his brother had 2 girls 1 boy

In my OH family im not sure how his mom and dads siblings are, not that mutch connection, but what I can see it is not one more than other and if it is it is just slightly.

But then my oh has 1 brother and 2 sisters. His oldest sister has 2 girls, his other sister has 2 boys, his brother has 2 boys and we have 1 boy! I some how was sure that when I would get pg I would have boy, and it was so! Im somehow sure again I will get a boy, though I would love to have a girl! I just want 2 children and think that if I get anohter boy I might have the 3 one, you know one more in many many years hehe when the next one will be at least 6 years old or older. Just to give it the final try for a girl. But if I get girl this time I will be done! But my hopes are not high because of all the boys his siblings have had!

it only counts from the man side, so for eg, your oh, his dad, his dad's dad, his dad grandad and so as it the male who determines the gender of the baby. there are lots of theories and differnts methods but i think its just luck and 50/50 xx

Yeah it's like porkypig said, it's all down to the male side as it's their sperm which will fertilise your egg and it's simply down to whether it's male or female sperm that get there first. Plus the timing of when you have sex is meant to help. For instance male sperm is faster but dies quickly so in theory to get a boy they say to have sex right on your ovulation day whereas female sperm are slower in reaching the egg but live longer so you should have sex a few days before you ovulate!

My friend comes from a family of all girls, her grandma was one of 5 girls, her mum was one of 3 girls, she has a sister, her sister had a girl, then on her oh's side his grandma was one of 3 girls, his mother was one of 2 girls, he has 3 sisters and he had a baby girl with a previous partner and because he is literally the only boy for so many generations and he'd had a girl etc they were absolutely convinced they'd have a girl so much so they they even bought a few pink things, but they had a boy!!

I think really it's 50/50 though. Although I do know someone that is unable to carry a girl baby to term, she's been pregnant with girls 4 times and lost them every time yet when she's been pregnant with boys she's had healthy pregnancies. After a lot of tests etc it was found her body rejects the female chromosomes or something!

X

Well my OHs family has lots of boys and my family has lots of girls...so who knows! It is true that some people can't carry a particular sex to term, and also that a particular couple might not be able to have a particular sex together but with different partners they might be able to...genetics is a very strange thing!
