Upset about Mirena IUD.....

Well, I had my appointment this morning to have my Mirena IUD removed so that my OH and I could start NTNP. The doctor found a cyst or swollen gland or something and sent me over for bloodwork. She said if it doesn't bother me, I can leave it there but otherwise it needs to be surgically removed. This was the first time I met this doctor - I've always gone to Planned Parenthood in the past since I didn't have insurance. She seemed really rushed so I didn't get nearly as much information as I was hoping for which I'm also upset about since I waited for two months for this darn appointment.

And apparently, she only removes the Mirena during a menstrual cycle so I have to go back in about two weeks or so to have it removed. But in the meantime, I don't know what to do about this cyst thing. What is it? Why is it swollen? Where did it come from and when? I know I'm rambling and I'm sorry...I just don't know where to go with this or what to do about it.

I started experiencing discomfort during sex about a year ago; I went to PP for it and they said to just use more lubricant. They've never said anything about this cyst or swollen gland so I have no idea if the two are related either.

Any ideas or anyone have something similar? She made it sound like it was quite common....

I kind of think Id get a second opinion on that. If the planned parenting gave you clinic gave you more importantion Id go back and just let them bill you insurance.

I had a cyst in my womb and used to nearly die in pain and lose lots of blood when I got my period. I used get these shooting pains up my backside and they would set me off in tears they were so bad. The cyst had to be surgically removed during a d and c. I was much better after. I lately found out that I have something called a menome (I think that is the spelling) but it's getting smaller so it doesn't need to be removed. If I would you I'd go to a new gynaecologist, someone who has time for you and takes the time to explain things to you. My gynae is great and takes proper time and always does lots of tests. Cysts are usually harmless but they can cause pain and discomfort and usually need to be removed. I would get a second opinion if I were you.

Most women get cysts but they usually go away on their own. They usually ask you to wait 1-3 months and sometimes it goes on it's own or shrinks in size. Try not to worry yourself hun. It's a fairly simple procedure to remove them too. Actually getting a D&C to remove cysts makes you even more fertile so it could work to your advantage.
