advice if uncertain when to start trying

I just wanted to share what has happened to me. We waited to start a family and have found out that i have very low amh levels (means i have few eggs left) so this will make conception very very hard. If any of you are uncertain when to start i would advise you to get this checked out. This will tell you if you need to make a start or can wait. It is a blood test and is quite new. xxx

Thanks for the advice. I just had a few blood tests and I have a problem with my prolactin being too high and it makes it impossible to conceive as well. I'm now on meds for it and hope that will sort it. Sorry to hear about your troubles.

My OH and I had originally wanted to wait until I finished school and was secure in my teaching position but since that's still a few years down the line and would put me at about 30-32 and we want 3-5 kids, we've decided to just go for it now since we know it will get harder to conceive later. Fingers crossed things work out for you naturally.

I am sorry to hear that.

I really agree with you. Also it is worth considering that a woman's fertility starts to decrees at 24 too and after 30 it is more likely to have problems in pregnancy. I know it is not the right time for everyone but for people stuck about when to try I think it is worth considering too. I think a lot of people take for granted how hard it can be to get and to stay pregnant.

Thanks for the tip. I waited too long before trying so I think if I don't have any success by June, I will have the dr check me out for any fertility issues to be on the safe side or see what he suggests (even though it's not been more than 6 months by then). I doubt I will have any difficulty once I stop obsessing over the need/want to be preg.

Thanks for the advice, it is always something I have worried about as my mother had her menopause very early in her 30's!

If you don't mind me asking how old are you? sorry don't want to be rude just so I can judge as I am 30, 31 in April and OH is talking about not starting TTC until Aug-2012 which would make me 32?!

thanks x

Are you in the UK? Do they want you to have at least been trying for some time before they will let you do this test?

Thanks

x
