We were never gonna TTC before April as my dd is Dec 24th, and tbh I can't really afford another Dec birthday! Xmas & her birthday are so expensive, and the more children we have the more pricey this will become! It is nice that we can go ice skating or something a little different for her birthday. But I would prefer a spring baby, and a summer baby next time(s) round!

My birthday is August 28th so I was the youngest in my year, but I still went out and got a job starting on September 15th, and have always had a decent job, so I don't think it matters when in the school year you are born. I think it matters at the begining, as 10/11 months makes a huge difference at 5 years old.

My birthday's the 3rd July and my lo is the 15th. I say selfish as I know people who are having problems conceiving and one couple have been trying for 7 years another are on the waiting list for ivf so i just feel like im being selfish in planning when exactly (or roughly) when I want #2 to be born when those couples wouldnt give a damn whenever as long as they could have a baby xx

in the bigger picture you don't care either if your lo isn't born on that date, preferences don't make wanting to get pregnant in the first place any less important nor does it make it a lower priority, I would have loved for my son to have been born in the summer, he's an autumn baby and his birthday is two weeks after mine, what we would like and what we want are two different things (you want a baby, you would like a summer one) if that makes any sense,

I don't think it's selfish at all to plan when you would like to have your baby. As well all know even the best planning doesn't always work out... It could take a few months to get a BFP or you could get a BFP right away and then have the baby early. You just never know!!!

DH and I are waiting until end of August to try as I want the baby to have an EDD of after the middle of May. I will be graduating from nursing school. I would like to be able to walk or waddle through my graduation. Then I will be able to take some time before I have to start working to spend with LO. Also, if possible I would like to avoid being pregnant during summer and I don't want a newborn in the winter either. Winter's are cold here!!!

I'm in same boat, we'll be TTC in June and I have told hubby we will stop in late September to avoid another August baby! Also our birthdays are: DH-June, LO-August and mine-October so it would be lush to have a early year birthday and even out the finances somehow haha

I don't think your selfish and I won't be trying for a particular month we are not TTC until Aug-2012 not due to when we want the LO to be born just how it ends up being but I think I would prefer to be pregnant in the winter than the summer and the majority of our family has birthdays in April so I would ideally like the LO to be born after then but still summer time but I guess it all really depends on when we get a BFP

I am mostly looking at months I would like to avoid, mainly March and December.

March because we have loads of birthdays already in March most importantly William's I wouldn't want them to end up with the same birthday plus it would cost me a fortune!

I would avoid December because of Christmas, having a baby with a Christmas Eve/Christmas Day/Boxing Day would be an expensive nightmare and I doubt the child would appreciate it.

Aside from those two anytime is good, although William was planned around avoiding the already expensive March. He was due April 4th but ended up being born by c section 29th March, so you never can tell

I just want to make sure each child gets a full celebration on their birthday and doesn't feel overshadowed by something else going on (like Christmas) or someone else's birthday.

I'd love for a baby to be born in the summer too. My birthday is Dec 19th and it's a miserable time of year to have a birthday - dark, cold and Christmas just overwhelms it every year! My brother has a May birthday, DH is July, and I'm always so jealous of them just being able to have a BBQ or drinks in a lovely pub garden by a river, or wherever. For more selfish reasons I'd prefer not to be pregnant in the high summer as I'm sure it must be awful being heavily pregnant when it's boiling hot.

So aiming for a May/June birth if possible, but I totally appreciate babies don't always come to plan like that! We're going to give it a good try though
