I think people always think about giving things up for Lent, and forget that you can always take things up instead...do a good deed, try and change an attitute or something similar....

BlaireUK, I think what you're doing is great! Love it...

I'm giving up chocolate, and taking up drinking water and going to the gym at least twice a week. If all goes well, I'm hoping to continue these efforts beyond easter, through to my summer holiday, which is to be the start date for TTC.

I think taking somethimg up is a good idea, as it's something positive you can actually do, rather than thinking about what you can't do (but really want to!)

As such I'm 32 unhappy and no idea where my life's going...!
That's essentially why I did it. I realized just before my 27th birthday (which was just before lent) that I wasn't happy. I started looking at things, job, friends, life, health, my ex... and he was the only thing I couldn't let myself think too deeply about because I felt guilty in a way. We'd been together so long, it 'couldn't be him'....
So I said, that's it no more guilt, I won't be scared to think about myself.. so no more fear either. I signed up for swimming lessons and with each one I felt more free. I jumped in the deep end and made it back up! I was so proud of myself. Then I started looking at what was making me unhappy. We were in a rut that was slowly getting deeper and more stuck.
So I wrote him a letter, told him how I felt, said what I needed to have change in order for me to be ok. He didn't start working on them. He didn't talk to me about any of it. He just made up his own mind to 'fix things' without telling me about any of it. Which led me to break up with him for good, my big thing was communication. So after I ended it he told me everything I'd always wanted to hear, and all I could think was 'too little, too late'... I felt free and not guilty for doing it.

that was 2 years ago almost. I've also been migraine free for the same amount of time.

Amazing what stress does to the body right?

You totally can! It will be tough but you can do it!

Just don't let anyone cook the meats/cheezy things you like for the first bit because you'll be tempted.

and for the love of god keep bacon out of your home... its like kryptonite!

(was Vegetarian for 5 years!!!) slowly coming off it to try other things for my IBS...
