Hi all - Im new and NEVER thought I would want a baby...until now!

Hi everyone

Im new here

Feeling ever so slightly like Im in a wierd parallel universe right now as, for as long as I can remember, I have not been interested in children. I saw them as a bit of a hinderence, the idea of pregnancy scared the living hell out of me (but not nearly as much as the giving birth at the end of it!!!!!!), and all in all kids weren't really for me.

Over recent months I have begun to get more and more broody though. The straw that broke the camels back, though, was a pregnancy "scare" (dont know what else you call it but I certainly wasnt "scared" by it) which got both me and my husband, of 2 and a half years, quite excited.

Then very disappointed to find out I wasnt!

SO....We have decided that we are now both ready to have a child as we are both experiencing feelings of a desire to have one which has, until now, been foreign to us (Im nearly 28 and he is 37).

Im a COMPLETE novice though and at the moment all I can do is look at cow print babygrows and make BOY and GIRL name lists......

*ahem*

I would be really interested and keen to meet other people like me, or who have been in this position where they finally feel ready for a family.

Sorry to ramble

Hi Apollo! Welcome to b&b. Feel free to ramble away. Have you both decided if you are going to start trying or are you planning to wait a while?

Thanks so much for your replies!

As far as trying and waiting to try - we have decided to go for it but the only reason we are waiting now is because the dreaded period arrived (is that too gross?....sorry ).
I had so many signs of being pregnant and when I was late we were almost convinced. Then, obviously, it arrived and so once that is out of the way we can get the trying started

Im dead excited though and really cant believe I am feeling this way. Guess that maternal instinct FINALLY kicked in! lol

Hiya and welcome to bnb and wtt!

I was in your situation before we ttc our lo. We got married and myhusband really wanted kids and although I knew one day I'd want them I knew I wasn't ready and I wanted to enjoy more of our time together as a couple.

We'd been married just over 18 months when I finally felt ready to try. All of a suddenit was all I wanted in the world and felt so natural. Sowe started ttc and I fell pregnant on our first cycle trying. I was 27 and my husband was 30 at the time (now 28 and 31) and we'll be ttc our second in May.

I must admit it's kind of strange when the broodiness hits you like a bolt out of the blue!

Good luck with everything! When do you plan on ttc?

X

Thanks MummytoSummer

Thats pretty much exactly how I was/am.
I dont know if it was selfish or not but I wasnted to enjoy my life, be able to go out if and when I wanted etc etc...but now all of that seems insignificant.
It is a totally foreign feeling to me but, as you say, it feels so natural.

Im getting more and more excited thinking about it and hearing from you guys!
Thanks!

Hi and Welcome
I'm like you except that I'm 38. When I was younger I always assumed I would have children and then I just never met Mr. Right. Not that I didn't have partners but just nobody where I got the urge to have kids with. Myself and my hubby had decided we didn't want any and were fine with that. All of a sudden it just came upon us this year that we should definitely have a baby. I don't know why. Can't explain it. So we are going to be trying this year. I think watching my sister have her lovely kids and watching them grow and seeing how brilliant it is has kind of spurred us on.
