Yea, we have bought some things. Around x-mas time we went into Gymboree and saw some girls clothes that had our dog embrodiered (a boston terrier) on them on the clearance rack for like $2 a piece - I got like 6 different shirts and a dress on varing sizes.

I also have picked up some gender neutral onsies for the winter time last month and a receiving blanket on mega clearance from a nice dept store.

I would have felt a bit iffy about it! When I was pregnant, I refused to buy anything because it felt like bad luck! The first thing I bought was a white newborn set when I was 30 weeks! We didn't even discuss names until I was 30 something weeks!

My OH bought 2 little baby grows and bottle when he was home for 2 weeks, i dont agree with messing with fate but he wanted to be the first to have bought something for the baby incase i got caught in the 2 weeks he was home. But no i wont be buying anything (or telling anyone for that matter) till after the 12 week scan

Yeah, i totally get the "not wanting to mess with fate" thought that many have posted. Everything that I have collected so far was bought WAY before we were close to our TTC date. And now that I am a few months from actually trying, I find it harder to justify buying anything/feel more superstitious about it

Whatever you buy now you don't need to buy later. You're just spreading the cost

I would do it, but I'd worry about my OH thinking I've lost my mind

If I had a close friend who was doing the same thing, I'd definitely go with her and buy random outfits and LOVE it...but I feel odd doing it alone.

Once I get pregnant, I'll probably feel like I'm tempting fate, so I'd probably wait WELL into the pregnancy to start buying items.

I bought a few baby items as well. I also have been given some stuff because people know i will be ttc soon. I feel like buying baby items makes me one step closer to being a mommy.
So far people have given me
-5 maternity shirts
-parenting magazines
-5 neutral outfits
So far I have bought
-4 neutral outfits
-pack of 3 white onesies
-50 pregnancy test strips on ebay

I also have learned how to crochet and i am making the baby a blanket!I have put them all in a 3 drawer bin in the soon to be nursery

I haven't brought anything but we have stuff that has been handed down from my sisters in my parents loft room waiting for when we do have a LO

We have brought some teddies and stuff that we have liked ie a bunny door stop it is super cute and have said when the LO comes it will go in the baby room etc and we have been shopping and OH has said when we have LO this will go in the room etc

I would love to buy some neutral items not necessarily clothes but blankets etc when we start to TTC as will help spread the cost some more

I agree with StarBucker,

I have been offered a cot - although i havent told anyone i'm TTC yet - and we've been trying for 6 months now with no joy yet. Im very glad that i didnt accept the cot, as it would be very depressing looking at it because its not happening straight away for us. Just something to consider. It's an emotional rollercoaster every month!
Good luck and fx for when you decide to try
